Lake Son-Kul, Kyrgyzstan
At an altitude of 3016 m a. s. l.; 29km long and 18km wide and a maximum depth of 13.2m — it is Kyrgyzstan's second largest lake. The average temperature in summer is about 11°C — but unlike Issyk Kul (Kyrgyzstan's largest lake) it does freeze over in the winter. It is situated on a treeless, high mountain plateau, and is surrounded by lush mountain meadows (jailoo). As such it is used by the shepherds of the Kochkor, Naryn and At Bashi regions for summer pastures for their flocks.

The tallest waterfall in Central Asia is Shar waterfall, located in At-Bashy, Naryn is over 400 meters high.
Azlumbob - Kyrgyzstan
In the small town of Azlumbob in Jalal-Abad Oblast in Kyrgyzstan I went to see one of the beautiful water falls in the area. For people in Kyrgyzstan this is a great place to take some vacation and relax. However very few people form other countries come here. As a result the area has a great local culture and non of the hassle you might get in normal touristic places. The local town has some nice local kitchen where you can eat the fantastic local bread with some grilled lamb of beef washed down with a hot tea,
Trekking Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan 2017
July/August 2017: After spending some time in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek, we drove to Karakol at Lake Issy-Kul. The next day jeeps brought us into the Tian Shan mountain range where we experienced an early drop-off due to a landslide that completely erased the driveway. This is where our trekking along and on the Inyltschek glacier started. After a week on the glacier and reaching Khan Tengri Basecamp (South Inyltschek) next to the Chinese Boarder, an old military helicopter flew us out of the mountains to Karkara, boardering Kazhakstan, followed by a two-days busride back to Bishkek.

At-Bashy 'Horse Head' region is located North of the Chinese border and has 22 villages. At-Bashy's region's center has a population of over 10,000 and is filled with beautiful scenery, abundant of restaurants and stores, and one of the largest animal markets in Central Asia. Come check it out!

Between the green hills with hospitable people, there are numerous possibilities to spend the holidays. Sporty and well-trained people can also try to climb up to 7100 m high peak Lenin. But, excellent knowledge of the mountains and the appropriate mountaineering equipment are compulsory.
Otherwise, you can explore the country on foot, by bike or on horseback.

Wir hatten das Glück den großartigen Anblick des Mount Lenin in Kirgisistan zusammen mit Eithne Treanor zu erleben. Eithne ist eine bekannte irische Moderatorin mit Sitz in Dubai. Inspiriert von der atemberaubenden Kulisse gab sie uns eine kurze Einführung in die wunderschöne Region.
Zwischen den grünen Hügeln mit gastfreundlichen Menschen bieten sich zahlreiche Möglichkeiten den Urlaub zu verbringen. Sportlich gut trainierte Menschen können auch den Aufstieg zum über 7100 m hohen Pik Lenin wagen. Exzellente Kenntnisse über die Berge und entsprechende Ausrüstung sind dabei allerdings Pflicht.
Ansonsten kann man zu Fuß, mit dem Rad oder zu Pferd das Land zu erkunden.
