2018 Cheakamus Pinball Race - Whistler, BC, Canada
The 2nd Annual Cheakamus Pinball Race!
First things first, huge shout out to Raphaël Boudreault-Simard from Flow Motion Aerials for putting this event together for the 2nd year in a row! I'm stoked that I was able to participate in the event, and it was incredible to see so many kayakers on the river together participating in some friendly competition!
Also, thanks to Nick Gottlieb for the stunning thumbnail photo. You can find more of his work in the links below.
For the race, everybody got together in groups of four and were each assigned a specific color yoga ball. The competitors put in and waited in the eddies above Cobra, and raced down to the bridge rapid. Once a majority of the kayakers reached the bridge, the volunteers on the suspension bridge threw the balls off, and the race started! Each team was trying to get their ball downstream to the take out lot first, while sabotaging other peoples balls by throwing them upstream into holes and eddies.
Thanks to my teammates Alsek Watt, Josh Plankeel and Lukas Reichelt, as well as all the kayakers who showed up to make this event possible!

FIRST BUNGEE JUMP - Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
SUBSCRIBE FOR ADVENTURE
Siya and I are all about trying new things, especially activities that boost our adrenaline. So, while exploring beautiful British Columbia, Canada we decided (very very last minute) to go bungee jumping in Whistler. Actually, our friend Jenn suggested it and without thinking twice, we booked a spot and the next thing we knew we were on the ledge of a high bridge overlooking the glacier fed Cheakamus River. Although, I was hesitant to jump (for about 5 seconds), I did it and haven't felt this alive in a while! Now, I can't wait for my next jump!! Have you ever gone bungee jumping?

Upper Cheak Kayaking - 2.5 meters - Whistler, BC Canada
The Upper Cheak section on the Cheakamus is the classic Class IV of British Columbia. Continuous rapids with interesting features makes it a great run to lap over and over! In total I put about 20 laps on the Upper Cheak, and I chose this run because it was at a nice ~2.5 flow, and we didn't stop for eddies, making it easy for you to see what the whole run is really like.
I ran the section first at just above 2.6 on the take out gauge, and it wasn't significantly harder than the size/pushiness shown in the video. Liquid Lore (see link below) has some good beta regarding flows and difficulty level.
A big thanks to Annie Lagueux, Denny Lenge, Dave Prothero and Gerrard Meszaros for showing me down my first lap, and Josh Plankeel, Monique Boag, Steve McGeragle, Mike Curran and Alsek Watt for doing the Balls to the Wall section when flows dropped (didn't get GoPro footage of the Balls section).
