CRHnews - 1-2 The Queen celebrates Chelmsford Diocese Centenary
HM The Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh attended a service at Chelmsford Cathedral to mark 100 years of the Chelmsford Diocese on May 6, 2014.
Hundreds of well-wishers turned out to greet the pair two years after Chelmsford was awarded city status as part of the Queen's Jubilee.
The royal couple were welcomed by Cathedral Dean Nicholas Henshall and Chelmsford Bishop Stephen Cottrell who preached a moving, humourous and evangelical sermon during which he mentioned that the only way really was Essex.
He remarked: Yes, you could even say, the only way is Essex, but I want to tell you about a better way and its roots in this old county - the way of Jesus Christ.
As well as this movie, there is also a You Tube slideshow featuring hundreds of photographs.

CRHnews - Hand of God 'opens door' at Chelmsford Cathedral
The heavy oak doors at the main South Porch entrance to Chelmsford Cathedral, Essex, UK, were recently replaced with automatic doors.
It is now so much easier to enter and leave + plus there are glass panels so you can take a peek at what is going on without having to clank them open.
Gone are the days when the medieval doors, with a massive latch, had to be heaved open - disturbing those inside, especially when there is a moment of quiet contemplation or prayer during a service.
It''s as if the invisible hand of the Almighty is opening the door and welcoming you into His home, its a Maradona Moment.
When I filmed this the other night, suddenly the clock on the steeple chimed out six o clock and all is well - you can hear it in the background - like to think it was the man above's seal of approval on my You Tube mission!!!
If you are srolling past the entrance one day, have a go, its how church should be - welcoming - so don't be afraid !!!
The following day I went to the Tate Britain art gallery at London's Millbank for the first time and was astounded when I walked into one of the grand rooms, drawn by the haunting sounds of a choral work.
There was this giant video projecton showing AUTOMATIC DOORS opening and closing, again as if by the hand of God!!!
THIS IS HOW IT IS DESCRIBED ON THE really bites ARTS BLOG . . .
In a grand side-room, reminiscent of a chapel, in Tate Britain, a looped video is projected against one wall.
Accompanied by the haunting hymn Miserere Mei, Deus by Allegri, the single scene, is a pair of double doors at London City Airport; this is the International Arrivals gate, the industrial threshold by which you enter the United Kingdom. Travellers walk toward the viewer, unaware they are being filmed.
They stride with purpose, the video slowed down filling their every movement with significance.
An employee runs across screen. A man stops with his trolley, looks around confused, then regards a scrap of paper and continues on.
Three older women greet affectionately, probably after a long absence (above).
At this point the video fades out, one of only two cuts.
It comes back to the closed doors before further arrivals file through, continually piquing our interest, then looping through again in repetition.
The image fading reinforces the idea of heaven - Kingdom - coming through the work.
Each arrival is also a departure, and vice versa.
In a surreal juxtaposition of spirituality/religiosity and the everyday, Wallinger presents a grand and intimate statement about the mundane, generic site airports are - liminal public spaces of boredom, transition and heightened experience.
You can briefly watch the video:
Doors and gates are described many times in parables by Jesus Christ and set out in the good book . . .
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, And only a few find it.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me
Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door!

CRHnews - Chelmsford Cathedral Dean's BIG QUESTION?
Nicholas Henshall, globe-trotting Dean of Chelmsford Cathedral, has been in the job for two months and knows what the Cathedral is and what it does, but now is asking what is it for?
The Dean, who is fluent in Greek, Italian, Mancunian and understands Geordi, told CRHnews: I want the people of Chelmsford and beyond to join in the conversation, tweet me, send me postcards, or call me with just once sentence to answer the question: What is Chelmsford Cathedral for?

The Chelmsford Cathedral River of Remembrance 2018
This special art installation has been designed to pay tribute to the service men and women, along with the many civilians, who gave their loves or were injured in World War One in this centenary year.
Supporting the work of the Royal British Legion, we're inviting members of the public to buy a poppy and add it to the River of Remembrance during the month leading up to 11 November 2018.
We hope that that the River of Remembrance will grow over the next few weeks and that you will be inspired to put the name of a family member on your poppy before adding it to the display.
