The folklore of “Chenchu Lakshmi” goes that she was one of the bravest women born in an Adivasi tribe. She was most popular for her archery skills and was married to a man who was a reincarnation of Lord Narasimha Swamy. “Chenchu” actually refers to the Chenchu tribal community who believe that they are the direct descendants of Chechu Lakshmi and Lord Narasimha Swamy.
The tribe is ethnic to the region and still live in most parts of Andhra Pradesh and in the Mahboobnagar districts in Telangana. Even though named after one tribe, the museum showcases the lives of people belonging to other tribes including the Khonda tribe, the Yerukala community, the Savara tribe, the Yanadi tribe, the Gond tribes and the Kolam communtiy. The museum pays homage and helps people in the city to see the life of the tribal community up close. The collection includes idols of Gods, hand made musical instruments, weapons used for hunting, life sized statues that are shown doing everyday things (the snake charmer is a favourite among children!), a model of a typical tribal hut and a fascinating garden where children can play around abstract statues of dinosaurs, boats and other figures. Do stop by at the nearby shop where they sell honey collected by the local tribes.

Araku Valley Tribal Museum | AP Tourism | Visakhapatnam Tour
Araku Tribal Museum is located in Araku, a small town in the valley surrounded by hills and many waterfalls, about 110 km’s from Visakhapatnam. Most museums are famous for what they showcase and the galleries they curate for visitors. What makes Araku Valley Tribal museum stand out in my mind is its very structure which is indigenous, absolutely native, right from the architecture, to the material used, to colors and contours. A double storeyed round building in red, with white motifs, painted on it. White window frames and white outlines standing on green lawns. One look and you know it represents the essence of an Indian community.
Hatakeswaram, Srisailam
Hatakeswaram:
Intellectual version says that the source of the name to this place from a particular Yogic practice known as Hatayoga, one of the form of Astangayogas (the eight yogas). And adding to this theory, the inclined towards serious meditation, feels the vibes once here.
Some historians located a laboratory of Alchemy (Rasayoga) at this place during medieval times. The present temple dedicated to Hatakeswara Swamy is stone structure datable to 11th – 13th century A.D. and is consists of a Garbhagriha and opened pillered Mukhamandapa.
