China dance # Cultural feast at Rinmin park Chengdu China
Citizens of China look like ready to enjoy life and step into their new role as the next super power .
-Chengdu takes hanging out in a park ( Rinmin Park) to a new level. While walking into the park your ears will be awoken by loud music. You may guess that you were about to come across the youth of the city raving it up. But no, this is not the case as you’ll see large groups of people like Garbha Navarathri festival in western India largely women, but here mostly the older generation dancing around to this r youthful music. Music instruments are set up all over the park as people sing songs performing in traditional costumes them with passion and vigor. They know every step and have calmness in their face showing joy..This is not the communist oppressed society that we think

Visit Chengdu : Beyond the Pandas
Visiting Chengdu was a dream of mine for a very long time even though the only thing that I knew about it was that it's the best place where you can see the pandas in China. However, we immediately found out that there are many more things to do in Chengdu.
After spending a little more than a week in China, learning about the Chinese culture and tasting the incredible Sichuan food I can say that this country impressed me and I can't wait to visit it again.
Chengdu (成都) - People's Park and Tianfu Square
The capital of southwest China's Sichuan province, Chengdu is a modern city with plenty of history and culture to back it up. A morning here is well-spent wandering the massive People's Park, where locals gather to sip tea, take a boat ride, or get in the groove with live music and plenty of group dancing. From there, a stroll through downtown's Tianfu Square gives you a glimpse into both Chengdu's past and future.

Chengdu tours highlighted by Giant Pandas, culture heritages, beautiful nature ...
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province and like most other major Chinese cities, boasts a lengthy history of 2500 years, mostly associated with the arts and craft trade. the city’s streets are lined with teahouses where people will spend their afternoons playing mahjong.
Although Chengdu is rapidly modernising, there are some lovely treelined avenues, back streets with delightful old wooden houses and bustling temples and monasteries to explore.
Chengdu people are famous throughout China for their relaxed, laid-back attitude to life, and the city’s streets are lined with teahouses where people will spend their afternoons drinking tea, eating sunflower seeds, having their fortunes told and playing mahjong.
There are many small restaurants specialising in wonderful spicy Sichuan cuisine and for a true taste of the region don't forget to try the Sichuan Hotpot, though be warned, this chilli soup is hot!
Working in Chengdu
A young man from Taiwan settled in Chengdu, assisting young people from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau and making a career in Chengdu. In a lab at the Tianfu Life Science Park in the Chengdu High-tech Zone, postdoctoral graduate Wei Liang and experimenters are researching a free DNA serum. It’s a dynamic monitoring technology for a post organ transplant. It monitors whether there is a rejection in the non-invasive condition in real time.

Chengdu, China
Most trips to China begin in Shanghai or Beijing. From the US Air China and United have directs to Beijing. The city has some fascination site such as the Forbidden City as well as Timamen Square. It is also near the Great Wall. But none of these attractions are worth seeing when smog settles into the area. When the smog is this bad the recommendation is to avoid any outdoor activity. If you do go outside it is recommended that you wear a mask to filter the acrid air.
It is about a 2 1/2 hour flight from Beijing to Chengdu and the air quality there was much better., It is the capital of the Sichuan province in Southwest China with a population in the city and surrounding area of over 14 million.
In China, the Giant Panda is a national treasure, only 1500 exist and about 80 percent of the world's Giant Pandas are in the Sichuan area. Fossils indicate that the Giant Panda inhabited the Sichuan area as long as 4,000 years ago. A breeding center was established near Changdu.. It was established for research, breeding and conservation for the Giant Pandas. Today the center has become a top tourist destination with over 100,000 visitors annually. Visitors can see pandas of all ages playing eating and sleeping at the center.
The Panda Research Center was opened in 1987, the year I was born. It was first built as a zoo for many other animals and for endangered pandas.
Pandas had a problem, no food for them. In the 1980s there was not much bamboo in the province so it was difficult for the pandas to find food. People set up a sanctuary for the pandas and solved this problem.
Also at the center are Red Pandas, which originate in the Himalayans mountains. They are pandas but also closely related to the raccoon. They are also endangered and a sanctuary has been established for them at the center.
In the center of Changdu at the Jinjiang river is the luxury Hotel Shangri-La with 593 guest rooms and suites.. The hotel is a showcase of rich artistic culture such as the three panel screens in the bar depicting the giant panda in its natural habitat.
At the Shangri-La Horizon Club besides the welcoming toy Pandas, the staff make sure that the extra comfort and attention to detail makes it a seamless arrival and departure from the hotel. At the Horizon Club lounge there is daily breakfast along with snacks and beverages throughout the day along with canapés and cocktail in the evening. . There is even a private meeting room.
The rooms and suites are spacious and have luxury embedded in ever inch of the room and bathroom. With separate showers and tubs and extra large towels, many could say it is better than home.
Facilities include an indoor swimming pool with lap lanes and a jacuzzi, massage, sauna, steam room, tennis courts and a gymnasium with all the necessary equipment.
The Shang Palace is known for serving some of the finest Cantonese and Sichuanese dishes. Within the restaurant there are 17 private rooms. The menu features a vast array of scrumptious choices including marinated bean curd with cordyceps and asparagus, crispy roast pork belly, live seafood, steam frog with ham and black mushroom, as well as Dim Sum and vegetarian selections.
The 90th China Food and Drinks Fair held at the Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center was happening while we were there. With an estimated 150,000 exhibitors it is an overwhelming display of international spirits, wine, alcohols, food and beverages. With each exhibitor trying to out do the next with attractive displays and attractive models, performances karaoke-style, fashion shows mixing traditional with futuristic themes.
The Wangiang Park is on of the more important parks in Changdu located along the Jinjiang River. It was developed in the memory of Xue Tao who was a Tang Dynasty female poet. She loved bamboo and written many poems in this park. The park has over 100 varieties of bamboo.
Also in the park jugglers can be found playing with spinning tops dancing to music. Artists paint poems on walkways, and musicians sing they favorite songs.
In the old town of Changdu are many unique and enticing restaurants and bars. At one such restaurant we let the staff pick out a traditional Chinese meal with included fried foie gras, fungus with chili and shredded duck. We did stop before the snake dish was presented.

The Sichuan Science and Technology Museum is located downtown Chengdu near Tianfu Square. Admission to the museum is free, however, you need your passport to get a ticket. The museum has several themed exhibits that are mostly in both Chinese and English. Most of the exhibits are aimed towards family and children, however, it is still enjoyable for adults and you can still learn a lot about science from China and around the globe. If you have some free time in Chengdu I would recommend you check it out. Enjoy!

Cycling to the Wetlands Park | Chengdu Daily Vlog 4.11.2017 | Cycling in China
Qinglong Lake Wetlands Park (青龙湖湿地公园) is a pretty freaking big park just outside of Chengdu city, Sichuan, China. It was actually mislabeled by Google as Shiling Forest Park (十陵森林公园) 。 It was less than an hour to cycle there from my apartment, so my Chinese wife and I headed off!
China pro tip: get out of the cities. It's so much fun when you can get out - even just a peek - into the suburbs or the countryside. Skyscrapers dwindle, and lakes, ponds, rivers, creeks, and greenery take their place! Plus, some great food can be had! Whole roasted chickens, ducks, wild mushrooms - all kinds of stuff!
I miss doing these China daily life types of vlogs - they're fun! I need to bring them back. There's always something interesting going on in China. Never a dull moment!
Feel free to subscribe to see what China is like from an American expat's perspective! I try to put up videos weekly!
