Chennai (Madras), India in a minute
It was just a 1 hour flight from Colombo to Chennai. I was already in South India in January, so I decided to take a train to Varanasi to go to Nepal.
I like Chennai (or Madras) though especially the metro going high above the ground, standing in the doorway for a fresh breeze and Marina Beach which has many happy people in the evening. When I have time I want to make a special video about Marina Beach, one about the Metro and one about the rest of Chennai. For now this is a very short quick edit of my many video shot.

Mount road | Anna salai | madras to chennai | Kattiyakkaran | அண்ணா சாலை
Anna Salai is more than 400 years old and has its origins in a cart track which was used by the European employees of the British East India Company to travel from the factory at Fort St George to the holy town of St Thomas Mount where the apostle St Thomas was crucified[citation needed]. The road, in its present form, took shape during the time of Charles Macartney who served as Governor of Madras. With the construction of Marmalong Bridge in 1724, the road started gaining prominence. In the following years, the road became part of the city's central business district which originally covered only George Town.[5] Today, most of Chennai's business and corporate offices are located on Anna Salai.
By the 1800s, Mount Road has become the traders' area of the city of Madras while First Line Beach in Georgetown remained the seat of processing, shipping and manufacturing businesses. However, the business activities of Mount Road was responsible for the city's economic growth. Several giant firms had beginnings on Mount Road, from the Amalgamations group to the TVS group. The road's proximity to the Government House, the home of the Governor, and the palaces of the Nawabs of Arcot resulted in several firms selling cars and other luxury goods setting up shops on the road. Simpson & Co, which moved to its current location opposite Government Estate after 1875, began building carriages and coaches and then cars. In 1903, the first steam-driven car was taken for its debut drive on Mount Road. To overcome the Great Depression of the 1930s, Simpon's introduced the hire purchase system for cars and trucks. In the 1930s, the TVS group, which was a travel operator in mofussil areas, was established in Madras by acquiring the Madras Auto Service property. In the 1940s, Anantharamakrishnan helped with the formation of Amalgamations & Co. The city's first skyscraper, the LIC Building, was built in 1959. Several major firms were then established, namely, Spencers & Co, Victoria Family Hotel (the present location of the Indian Overseas Bank Headquarters) and Higginbothams.

Chennai is the fourth largest city in India and the capital of Tamil Nadu, See the beautiful City.
Chennai is the fourth largest city in India and the capital of Tamil Nadu, See the beautiful City.
Chennai is connected by rail with all major towns and cities in India. Main Railway Stations: Central and Egmore. Chennai is connected by good network of roads with all important places in Tamil Nadu and other parts of India.
Chennai formerly known as Madras is the capital city of Tamil Nadu state and is the fourth largest metro city in India. The city grew up around the English settlement of Fort Saint George and gradually absorbed the surrounding towns and villages. However, despite the strong British influence, Chennai has retained its traditional Tamil Hindu culture and effectively blended it with the foreign influence. The city is widely spread in about 180 Sq. Kms. It is a major trade center, being well linked by road, rail and air to important cities besides being a sea port. Compared to the other major metros of India, it is far less congested and polluted.
Chennai, rich in the treasures of history, from temples and shrines to forts and palaces, the landscape of the past lives easily with the present. Chennai is the fourth largest city in India and the capital of Tamil Nadu. Retaining much of its traditional charm, this 350 year old city is the gateway to the south, providing many a fascinating vignette of southern heritage.
