Burke Woman Wins $1 Million in Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle!
What a way to start the new year!
That's how Michele McVee's husband reacted when he saw her top-prize-winning ticket in Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle. The ticket is one of four drawn in the New Year's Day drawing to win the million-dollar top prize.
It was surreal! she said,when asked about the moment she realized she'd won.
The Burke woman bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven at 8319 Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield. On January 14,she returned to the store to receive her check from the Virginia Lottery. The store received a $10,000 bonus for selling the $1 million ticket.
She bought the winning ticket,#108164,on December 31,the last day of sales for the Raffle. A few hours after the drawing,she looked on the Lottery's web site and realized she had a winning ticket.
