Tennessee Adventures: Cherokee National Forest
This Tennessee hike is super easy. All ages could attempt this hike including pets. The trail leads to a stunning waterfall called Benton Falls. That isn't all for this particular area though. The whole drive to the trailhead is a scenic route that will allow for at least four stops along the way for an overlook view of the Cherokee National Forest. This area also provides campsites and cookout sites alongside a walking loop around a small lake.

Cherokee National Forest, TN. Our Travel Adventures visited the beautiful scenery and the cozy campgrounds.
Recreation opportunities in the Cherokee National Forest are diverse. The forest's fast-flowing rivers support trout fishing. Rainbow trout are stocked in many streams and rivers. Brook trout and brown trout are also present. Bass, bluegill, and crappie are found in the forest's lakes, which are also open to windsurfing, water skiing, and boating.
Trails criss-cross the forest. In addition to the Appalachian Trail, these include the John Muir Recreation trail, other hiking trails, and some trails designed for equestrian use. Bicycle trails are being developed.
Camping is available in RV campgrounds and tent-only camping areas, and primitive tent camping is allowed throughout much of the forest.

The Unicoi Mountains are a mountain range rising along the border between Tennessee and North Carolina in the southeastern United States. They are part of the Blue Ridge Mountain Province of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The Unicois are located immediately south of the Great Smoky Mountains and immediately west of the Cheoah Mountains. Most of the range is protected as a national forest, namely the Cherokee National Forest on the Tennessee side and the Nantahala National Forest on the North Carolina side— although some parts have been designated as wilderness areas and are thus more strictly regulated.
Camping on Indian Creek in the Cherokee National Forest, TN
Noah and I rode up to the Cherokee National Forest in southeast Tennessee on Friday evening. We got to the forest service roads at about 7:30 and it was already after sundown. We rode the dark, winding gravel roads for 2 hours until we found a decent spot to pull off and pitch a tent. We roasted some hotdogs over the campfire and finally crawled into our warm sleeping bags around 11:30. The temperature on the ridge dropped to 23 degrees overnight. We got up in the morning and took our time making breakfast and warming up in the morning sunlight. After packing up camp, we drove deeper into the forest, stopping wherever we saw something interesting. A large rock face in a sweeping bend in the road caught our eyes so I pulled over. We explored the massive rock and found there were a lot of good spots to camp on the creek nearby. We settled on a spot downstream close to some falling water and found that the creek emptied into Parksville Lake. We did some fishing, found some bucked up logs, carried them back to the campsite, split them, built a very nice fire, cleaned up trash that irresponsible people had left behind, cooked some boneless pork ribs, baked potatoes, and s’mores over the fire and had an awesome time down on Indian Creek. ⛰
Correction: Throughout the video I kept referring to Lake Ocoee. The western half of the lake is called Parksville Lake. The eastern half is Lake Ocoee. We camped on Indian Creek which flows into Indian Creek Inlet of Parksville Lake. (The Ocoee River flows through these lakes and continues east) ????

Living in Eastern Tennessee - Cherokee National Forest - the Smoky Mountains.
Falling in love with this nature after moving to the area in 2011, I did photography, recorded my music and composed this small video trying to share it's beauty with others. The places shown are mostly our Starr Mountain and it's many creeks but some shots taken from Ocoee lake (opening shot), Hiwassee river up north to the Tellico Plains.
Hope you will enjoy the beauty of this place.

I followed this old road to where I found an abandoned bridge, located at Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee. I am not sure how old the bridge is, possibly early 1900's. It was abandoned sometime in the 1960'.

Mysterious Ruins in Cherokee National Forest
While exploring in Cherokee National Forest I found these ruins but not sure what was here previously. It may have been part of an old bridge or some kind of platform. They could also be connected with the Tennessee Valley Authority. I saw foundations nearby and supports that may have been connected to this. If you have information on this area please feel free let me know. This was located within the Hiwassee River Zone.

Epic Day Cherokee National Forest - Ocoee Tennessee
An Epic hike through the Tennessee backwoods! As we hiked one of the nearby mountains we came upon a view of the Hiawassee River, on the top of the mountain there was a big hole drilled in the ground. The drove back to the Ocoee lake, where we crossed logs to avoid the muddy ground.

Ocoee #2 and Boyd Gap. Cherokee National Forest.
Had to go to Cleveland, Tennessee. So on the way back I stopped for another visit to the Ocoee Dam # 2. Due to the recent heavy rains in Eastern Tennessee the Ocoee River was at high water levels. So the Ocoee Dam was draining a lot of water over the Dam. I then went to Boyd Gap Overlook and took a tour of the area.
