Cheung Kok is a Village in the Kampong Cham province of Cambodia.
Here the people of the village have found a way to better their lifestyle by benefiting from tourism.
Ways you can contribute:
- Homestay with a local family
- Buying arts and crafts made in the village (scarfs, jewerly, etc)
- Having meals home cooked by your host family
- Visiting the village in general, but honestly... spend the night.. it was so fun.

Hannchey Mountain Resort - Attraction in Kampong Cham - Chey Kiri Mountain
Hannchey Mountain or Phnom Hannchey is located at Hannchey village, Hannchey commune, Kampong Siem district the East of Kampong Cham province at the northern part of Mekong River. It's about 20km from Kampong Cham provincial town. Hannchey Mountain has its official name called Chey Kiri Mountain. If we travel by boat on the mekong river from Kampong Cham provincial town, it's about 18km. Phnom Hannchey or Hannchey Mountain is now called Phnom Hannchey Resort. There are 3 temples along the way to Hannchey mountain resort, if we travel from town, the first temple is Kok Lvea Temple, Andaung Breng Temple, Kouk Preah Theat Temple, and Neang Khmao Temple. To be at the hilltop, we can climb up 295 beautiful stair steps or there is a road for car to go to the top of the mountain, if we don't want to walk. There is fried noodle stand where we can have lunch there. After a break on the hilltop, we traveled back. On the way back, we stopped along the road to buy some lotus roots and gave away some books, pencils to the local children and continue back to Phnom Penh city.
Your support is a huge encouragement for me as a Khmer to continue sharing the tourist attraction places in Cambodia to all Khmer and the World and bring more tourists to Cambodia.

In the movie , you can visit Koh Paen Island , Wat Nokor , Phnom Srey and Phnom Pros , Wat Hanchey and the french tower
More a quiet town than a bustling city, Kompong Cham is a peaceful provincial capital spread along the banks of the Mekong. It was an important trading post during the French period, the legacy of which is evident as you wander through the streets of chastened yet classic buildings.
Long considered Cambodia’s third city after Phnom Penh and Battambang, Kompong Cham has lately been somewhat left in the dust by the fast-growing tourist towns of Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. However, Kompong Cham remains an important travel hub and acts as the gateway to eastern Cambodia. The big bridge south of the centre was the first to span the Mekong’s width in Cambodia.

Kampong Cham is the capital of the province of the same name and the third largest city in Cambodia. With its Mekong River location and relatively close proximity to Phnom Penh (123km) and Vietnam, Kampong Cham has always been an important trade and transportation hub. The highway from Phnom Penh is in excellent condition-you can get here in just under two hours by road or by the bullet boats that are a main mode of transportation between towns on the Mekong River. Either way it's a nice fide, with views of the rural countryside or river area, depending on which way you go.
The town itself is quaint and charming with its bustling morning river scene and wide boulevard streets beside the river. There are a few worthwhile attractions nearby and with it's location on the way by boat or road to Kratie, Mondulkiri, Rattanakiri and Stung Treng Provinces; it's a nice jump-off point. Kampong Cham is a mix of the old and the new, with a new temple being built in and around old ruins and the big ferry boats taking people and goods to the other side of the Mekong, right next to the construction of the first bridge ever built here.
Because there is little foreign investment and no massive tourism (almost every foreigner who comes here is a backpacker), this city is quite poor with a few modern buildings, though not lacking in French architecture from the colonial period. It is similar to many other Cambodian cities, being rather dirty, with garbage a common sight. The people of Kampong Cham are very friendly and open to engaging with tourists. If recent projects seem to be improving the state of things here (relative to other Cambodian cities), remember that both PM Hun Sen and former Phnom Penh Governor Chea Sophara are originally from this province.
