Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST):Victoria & Bombay Terminus.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an historic railway station in Mumbai Maharashtra, India which serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. Designed by Frederick William Stevens with influences from Victorian Italianate Gothic Revival architecture and traditional Mughal buildings, the station was built in 1887 in the Bori Bunder area of Mumbai to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The new railway station was built on the location of the Bori Bunder Station and is one of the busiest railway stations in India, serving as a terminal for both long-distance trains and commuter trains of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. The station's name was changed to its present one in March 1996 and it is now known simply as CST (or CSTM).
Opening and growth as Victoria & Bombay Terminus
The station took ten years to complete, the longest for any building of that era in Bombay. This famous architectural landmark in a Gothic-revival style was built as the headquarters of the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. Since then, the station came to be known as Bombay VT.(Railway code-BBVT)
Originally intended only to house the main station and the administrative offices of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway, a number of ancillary buildings have been added subsequently, all designed so as to harmonise with the main structure. The original platforms were from 1-9. As the Harbour line was being extended from its previous terminus at Dockyard road to VT, to prevent congestion, a new mainline concourse with platforms 10-13 to the east of the existing suburban concourse was constructed, to handle main line traffic was erected in 1929. The original building is still in use to handle suburban traffic and is used by over three million commuters daily. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Central Railway.
Renaming
In 1996, the Minister of Railways, Suresh Kalmadi, changed the name of the station to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in honour of Great King Chhatrapati Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire.
In 1956, the station was also featured in the film C.I.D. during the song Yei Hai Bombay Meri Jaan. In 2008, the station was featured prominently in the Academy Award winning film, Slumdog Millionaire.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and train (Mumbai - India)
(EN) Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Marathi: छत्रपती शिवाजी टर्मिनस), formerly Victoria Terminus, and better known by its abbreviation CST or Bombay VT, is a historic railway station in Mumbai which serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India, and serves Central Railway trains terminating in Mumbai as well as the Mumbai Suburban Railway.
Mumbai CST will be upgraded (along with Pune Jn. and Nagpur Jn.) by means of a public-private partnership.
The station was designed by Frederick William Stevens, a consulting architect in 1887-1888. He received INR16.14 lakh as payment for his services.[2] Stevens earned the commission to construct the station after a masterpiece watercolour sketch by draughtsman Axel Haig.[2] The final design bears some resemblance to the St Pancras railway station in London.[2][3]
It took ten years to complete[3] and was named Victoria Terminus in honour of the Queen and Empress Victoria; it was opened on the date of her Golden Jubilee in 1887.[3][4] This famous architectural landmark in Gothic style was built as the headquarters of the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. Since then, the station came to be known as Mumbai VT.
In 1996, in response to demands by the Shiv Sena and in keeping with the policy of renaming locations with Indian names, the station was renamed by the state government after Chatrapati Shivaji, the famed 17th century Maratha king. On 2 July 2004, the station was nominated as a World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO.
In 2008, the station was featured prominently in the Academy Award winning film, Slumdog Millionaire.(wikipedia)

Mumbai International Airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) Terminal 2 Departure Tour - Prakhar Sahay
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is One of the best airport in the world and was inaugurated in Januarry 2014.
The airport has two main passenger terminal complexes. Terminal 1 at Santacruz is dedicated for domestic passengers. The new Terminal 2 which is an integrated terminal catering to both international and domestic passengers but now a days flights terminal can change from domestic to internation according to which airline you are travelling.
I’ve travelled many airports in India and abroad but this one has some specialty in it. I can very confidently say that if you have a transit in this airport you will not be bored easily as there is a lot of things to look out for. Also you may easily spot celebrities here.
A modern airport which is designed with a basic shape of a feather of peacock. Incidentally peacock is the national bird of India. This shape is repeated in many components of this beautiful structure of this airport building. These include columns, ceilings, logo, panels etc. The new international terminal T2 is nothing short of a marvel, a fusion of art and technology. The terminal is on of the best in the world and puts India on the world map.
The new Terminal - T-2 is mesmerising and offers a lot to the people. This airport exhibits many cultural and contemporary art works. It is worth watching the airport just roaming inside, if you have time before boarding a flight. Quite nicely decorated and it's huge. Relevant signs at every location to guide you through the way. They provide services to keep you entertained until your boarding starts.
The facilities at this airport are of international level, Check in and luggage collection was well organised and smooth. There are many international brands options to choose from for shoppers, it is like one big shopping mall. Duty free shops are also world class, one big part is its food zone having mouthwatering delicious food option. There are ample food joints and lounges, and the shops are good value for last minute gifts. Smoking zones are clean and well ventilated.
There are nice areas to relax if you have long time transit. The overall atmosphere was calm and serene - unlike most airports. Ground staffs, securities, police everybody are very helpful.
I am amazed at the choice of theme it has. The inclusion of Art and artefacts, installations, sculptures and the sheer grandeur through the exotic interior is breathtaking! A unique airport that celebrates the country's traditions, arts and crafts!
Though there can be long Queue in the security and immigration depending on the time of the day. It gets really busy between 9:00 pm to 2:00 am when many International flights depart.
Airport has lot of parking space there are many five star hotels just outside the airport which is very convenient for businessman and travellers. It has the best connectivity across the globe. The huge Airport witness hundreds of flight everyday from across the globe. There are a lot of approach routes and the traffic to and fro to the airport is also managed well.
The world class airport making travel more easier and enjoyable.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Heritage museum gets inaugurated
Almost two-and-a-half years after the Central Railway (CR) had proposed to set up a museum inside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) building, the museum was finally inaugurated. Spread over a 1,000 square metre area, the heritage museum is on the ground floor of the Indo-Gothic structure, which also houses the headquarters of the Central Railway. After the CST building was given the status of a world heritage site by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the railway officials had planned to refurbish the entire CST building. The museum, which is a part of this proposed renovation, has old artefacts, state-of-the-art clocks, tables, chairs, etc. The Central Railway General Manager B.B. Modgil inaugurated the Heritage Gallery at CST, which describes the history of Indian Railways. VISUALS - 0:01:16-0:01:27 + 0:01:46-0:01:50

The terminus was designed by British architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens in the style of Victorian Italianate Gothic Revival architecture. Its construction began in 1878, in a location south of the old Bori Bunder railway station,[5] and was completed in 1887, the year marking 50 years of Queen Victoria's rule, the building being named, Victoria Terminus.
The station's name was changed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (station code CST) in March 1996 to honour Shivaji, the 17th-century founder of the Maratha Empire, whose name is often preceded by Chhatrapati, a royal title. In 2017, the station was again renamed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (code CSTM), where Maharaj is also a royal title. However, both the former initials VT and the current, CST, are commonly used.[6]
The terminus is the headquarters of India's Central Railway. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India,[7] serving as a terminal for both long-distance- and suburban trains.

Mumbai Local Train Midnight Arrival At World Heritage Victoria Terminus Station!
A Mumbai local train arriving at the World Heritage Site, Bombay Victoria Terminus, now known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, a couple of minutes past midnight. It had rained heavily a few minutes prior to this train's arrival. The magnificent dome of the station building can also be seen. I was heading to CST to catch a train to Mangalore.
I do not need any lectures from intellectuals regarding the name of this station, so save yourself the trouble.
