The Nan Lian Garden (Chinese: 南蓮園池) is a Chinese Classical Garden in Diamond Hill, Hong Kong. The garden has an area of 3.5 hectares. It is designed in the Tang Dynasty-style with hills, water features, trees, rocks, and wooden structures.
The garden was a joint project of the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Hong Kong Government. It opened to the public on November 14, 2006. The garden is open daily from 7am to 9pm.

Chi Lin Nunnery (Chinese: 志蓮淨苑) is a large Buddhist temple complex located in Diamond Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1934 as a retreat for Buddhist nuns and was rebuilt in the 1990s following the traditional Tang Dynasty architecture. The temple halls have statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, the Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin, and other bodhisattvas. These statues are made from gold, clay, wood, and stone.
The temple halls and the Chinese garden in front of the nunnery are open to the public daily free of charge.

MUST-VISIT HONG KONG FREE TOURIST SPOTS
Today, we’re gonna take you to Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery which are just 5-minute away from Diamond Hill Station Exit C2. These are easily accessible attractions off the MTR and admission is free.
Nan Lian Garden is a 3.5-hectare garden within the city which is a totally stunning, serene and tranquil garden set with skyscrapers as a backdrop. This is truly unique and worth a visit.
Here’s a walking tour of the amazing green space with impressive display of bonsais, beautiful polished rocks, ponds, waterfall, winding paths, traditional structures, and a large Buddhist temple.
There is a cafe in the gardens, which is semi-hidden behind a small waterfall connected to a mill. It’s one of those instagrammable sites for you to check out.
It's lovely to walk around and sit in to soak up the peaceful atmosphere, while admiring the amazing view of the gardens and the surrounding skyscrapers.
You can just cross the bridge from within the gardens into the adjacent temple known as Chi Lin Nunnery, making it a convenient single visit. So when you’re here in Hong Kong, you better check this out especially if you are fond of gardens and traditional Chinese architecture.

It is actually the largest hand-made wooden building in the world. It is located opposite to the Nan Lian Garden and I will give you a tour of both places in these travel videos.
The Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden are among Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions. It is easy to get there. Just take the MTR lines towards the Diamond Hill MTR station and from there you are just a few hundred meters away from enjoying the Buddhist Temple and the beautiful Hong Kong Garden. The temple halls and the Chinese garden in front of the nunnery are open to the public daily free of charge.

Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden in busy Hong Kong
Chi Lin Nunnery was founded in 1934 as a retreat for Buddhist nuns and was rebuilt in the 1990s following the traditional Tang Dynasty architecture. The temple halls have statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, Avalokiteshvara and Akasagarbha Bodhisattva. It is constructed entirely with cypress wood, without the use of any nails.

Nan Lian Garden is a beautiful tranquil garden opposite Chi Lin Nunnery. The highlight is the Golden Pavilion of Absolute Perfection in Lotus Pond connected by Zi Bridge and Wu Bridge. Other highlights include the Silver Strand waterfall, Pavilion Bridge and Blue Pond.

The complex with 16 halls, a library, a school, a pagoda, a bell tower and a drum tower, covers an area of more than 33,000 square metres (360,000 sq ft).[2] The Chi Lin Nunnery buildings are the only buildings to be built in this style in modern-day Hong Kong.The Nan Lian Garden, located in the opposite of the Chi Lin Nunnery, is a Chinese Classical Garden also built in the style of the Tang dynasty. The scenic garden covers an area of 35,000 square metres (380,000 sq ft) is maintained by the Chi Lin Nunnery.

Hong Kong Nan Lian Garden - we've been to different gardens or park in Hong Kong but as of now Nan Lian Garden is on top of our list. Nan Lian Garden offers tranquility and Chinese heritage all in one place. Nan Lian Garden is not difficult to find. just use you google maps and Hong Kong's MTR and your there. Apart from Nan Lians beautiful landscape it is also an extra that they have a lot of Chinese homes inside this place. Hong Kong Nan Lian Garden can easily transport you to mainland China without acquiring a visa!
Hong Kong Chi Lin Nunnery - although there are a lot of temples in Hong Kong, Chi Lin Nunnery is quite unique. Most temples have the same interior but Chi Lin Nunnery houses about 3-5 Buddhas that are so remarkable! Unfortunately, you can't take pictures where the Buddhas are situated but other than that, selfie anywhere! Chi Lin Nunnery also gave that Chinese palace vibe that it felt like your inside a Chinese drama or movie. Silence is observed in Chi Lin Nunnery which makes your visit more personal and enjoyable because inside Chi Lin Nunnery Hong Kong, it's just you, your thoughts and the beauty right in front of you.

Chi Lin Nunnery
Established in 1934 and renovated in Tang dynasty style (AD 618–907) in 1990, the Chi Lin Nunnery is a large temple complex of elegant wooden architecture, treasured Buddhist relics and soul-soothing lotus ponds. The complex also includes a series of temple halls, some of which contain gold, clay and wooden statues representing divinities such as the Sakyamuni Buddha and bodhisattvas.
Nan Lian Garden
Cutting through Diamond Hill’s myriad of high-rise apartments is the tranquil Nan Lian Garden, a public park also built in the style of the Tang dynasty. Its scenic garden is meticulously landscaped over an area of 3.5 hectares, in which every hill, rock, body of water, plant and timber structure has been placed according to specific rules and methods. There are permanent exhibitions of Chinese timber architecture, rocks and potted plants, while the hungry might want to try the vegetarian restaurant or teahouse.

南蓮園池
南蓮園池以唐代園林為建築藍本，其造園手法「小中見大」，以小品建築、樹木、山石和池水等營造的借景，將山水融入其中，古意盎然。遊覽南蓮園池，您可以沿園內一條單向的迴遊式路徑漫步，步移景換，樹木、石景、古建築，就如一幅幅山水卷軸展現在眼前一樣。賞景之餘，您又可以在「龍門樓」品嚐志蓮淨苑素菜，又或者在清雅的「松茶榭」內品茗香茶，享受偷得浮生半日閒的情趣。

The hallmark of the temple is the simple elegance of the dark wood it is made of. The magnificent sloping roofs, featuring a wealth of exquisite carvings, are embellished with gilded details.
Most of the large monastery is spread out around three courtyards situated one after the other. You can enter the first through the Mountain Gate.
As soon as you enter, you'll find the magnificent Lotus Garden, a courtyard with four ponds with lotus flowers and water lilies floating on them. The lotus flower is very important in Buddhist culture, because it represents purity. There are covered porticos along the sides of the courtyard and a large variety of potted bonsais and flowers everywhere.
Now press pause, head across the courtyard and press play after you've reached the Hall of Heavenly Kings,
At the center this hall you can see a statue of Buddha, sitting upon an altar, surrounded by sculptures depicting the Heavenly Kings; the four compass points which protect the temple from evil.
