Chiang Dao Market, Northern Thailand
One of Thailand's largest street markets, it lines both sides of the street for more than a kilometer, with vendor stalls going back 100 meters from the road. Popular with the northern Hill Tribe people, they come down from their villages to shop for food and clothing, household goods, and medicines, and the sit and chat with people from other villages not seen often.

Weekend Trip to Chiang Dao, Thailand
Just north of Chiang Mai, is an awesome weekend trip to Chiang Dao. Read the full blog post here:
BEST MARKET IN CHIANG MAI THAILAND - Sunday Night Market & Walking Street
We show you around the best market in Chiang Mai, Thailand: The Sunday night market & walking street. This market is 1.2 KM long where you can buy local goods produced here in Chiang Mai Thailand and sample a huge variety of Thai street food. This is by far the best night market in Chiang Mai. Watch and see why.
One of our favorite things to do while traveling, particularly in Thailand, is to visit a night market. Here at the Chiang Mai Sunday night market, also referred to as the Chiang Mai walking street, you can eat local Thai street food, shop for handmade clothing, and barter for a bargain. Markets are notoriously known to have some of the most unique shopping in Chiang Mai, and this one is by far the best.
The incredible and distinguishing factor of the Sunday night market Chiang Mai is the atmosphere. The market is located in the old city of Chiang Mai Thailand which is surrounded by beautiful buddhist temples and 14th century buildings. You will find most of the Thai street food at the Sunday night market & walking street located on different temple grounds. Is there a better way to enjoy local Thailand cuisine while gazing up at a beautifully ornate buddhist temple? That’s what we call food with a view!
This Chiang Mai market doesn’t get called the best market in Chiang Mai for nothing. The city completely shuts down Ratchadamneon Road for 1.2 Kilometers, so if you plan to visit you better bring your walking shoes! One of the best things about night markets in Thailand is that they stay open late. The night market in Chiang Mai is open each sunday from roughly 5pm - midnight so you will have the chance to see almost every vendor and fulfill your shopping needs. Speaking of shopping in Chiang Mai, don’t forget to test out your haggling skills with is acceptable at all night markets in Chiang Mai. Stacia is absolutely terrible at haggling, but to be fair she was up against a really stern Thai woman who wasn’t going to budge on the price of her dress. Ryan on the other hand is a great haggler even though we left the market empty handed.
If you’re interested in fun things to do in Chiang Mai, we highly recommend the Chiang Mai Sunday night market. The Chiang Mai Sunday night market & walking street is consistently regarded as one of the best things to do in Chiang Mai. If you are interested in learning about or seeing other night markets in Thailand, head over to our Instagram account and watch the IGTV story of eating bizarre Thai street food at the Krabi night market. We also have a video on the biggest market in Thailand called the Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok.
If you guys liked this video, subscribe and give it a thumbs up! We are living in Chiang Mai Thailand for 2 months, so be sure to stick around and see more of the best things to do in Chiang Mai. Don’t forget to leave us a comment down below and tell us which Thai street food, particularly northern Thai food, you want to see in our Chiang Mai Thailand food video. Seeya!

Chilling in Chiang Dao | Craft beer, Ya-dong, Doi Luang
My 2nd time in Chiang Dao, the less crowded version of Pai.
Even though I wanted to escape the concrete jungle, I can't ever escape the need to drink good shit. There's a great and the only craft beer bar here called Microkosmos as well as a bar that makes it's own Ya-dong called the Cave bar.
Aside from drinking myself to death, what people come to Chiang Dao for is to come admire Doi Luang's amazing view. Let's chill.

DELICIOUS Thai Street Food at Chiang Mai’s Sunday Night Market
Location: Chiang Mai, Thailand Sunday Night Market
Visiting the Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market is an experience that shouldn’t be missed! If you’re planning a trip to Chiang Mai Thailand, make sure that you’re here on a Sunday Night. The market is HUGE, and full of tons of delicious food.
The night market literally stretches for almost 2km. We spent hours wandering the streets, and we still couldn’t see the end of the market when we gave up! This night market in Chiang Mai is better than any other night market we’ve been to in Thailand!
The Sunday Night Market had an amazing selection of local goods. Even though there are thousands of stalls that set up on Sunday nights in Chiang Mai, very few of them sell the same thing. A pleasant surprise after visiting the night markets of Bangkok.

TRIP TO THE NEST IN CHIANG DAO, THAILAND
We cruise north to the Nest in Chiang Dao, Thailand for a few days of peace and relaxation . After a brief, but beautiful motorbike ride from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao, we find what we are looking. The Nest 1 offered us seclusion, quiet, and great western food. The next day, after decompressing in a a double bungalow, we step it up and go for a family suite at Nest 2. We are blown away by the surroundings and the amazing (and very spicy) Thai food.

HEADING NORTH - Local Bus from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao, Thailand / Travel Day Vlog
Today we leave Chiang Mai and head North to Chiang Dao area. We’ll be staying at a property in Ban Tham, a remote town at the base of some massive mountains and surrounded by jungle! This part of Thailand is famous for it’s natural beauty such as caves, waterfalls, rivers, and mountains. We caught the local bus because it was the cheapest option and it ended up being a lot more comfortable than we thought it would be - plus it was actually on time!

LARGEST HANDICRAFT MARKET in THAILAND
The largest craft market in Thailand. If you're visiting Chiang Mai, be sure to include Baan Tawai Village in your Chiang Mai travel plans.
Thailand is famous not only for its food and night markets but also for its Thai crafts.
This wood and furniture market just 15km south of Chiang Mai has some of the most incredible handmade wood furniture and artwork I've ever seen.
You'll find everything here from wood furniture to incredible works of art.

But nothing prepared us for the biggest and best night market in Chiang Mai, Thailand! There were stalls and Thai street food for as far as the eye can see!

MUST DO IN CHIANG MAI - Authentic Northern Thailand Hill Tribe
A must do in Chiang Mai is this 100% authentic Northern Thailand Hill Tribe tour. Unlike other things to do in Chiang Mai, this is well off the tourist radar. Watch us explore native Thai villages, cook, and eat exotic Thai food with the locals of Northern Thailand.
Many tour companies in Chiang Mai offer a “hill tribe tour”, only to take you to a contrived Thai village that only exists to serve tourists. What Thailand Hilltribe Holidays does, is offer you a 100% authentic Northern Thailand Hill Tribe tour without any other tourists with you. We were taken to two villages: the Karen Hill Tribe and Hmong Hill Tribe.
* Book this tour with Thailand Hilltribe Holidays:
First was the Karen Hill Tribe in Northern Thailand where we were able to meet a village family and cook with them. Being able to cook with a hill tribe family was one of the most unique experiences in Thailand we have had in all 4 months here! The main dishes were sticky rice cooked inside of bamboo and a mix of curries, however we were able to try some exotic Thai food when they served frog soup! Watch and see how Ryan got tricked into eating this… haha!
The next stop on our Hill Tribe Village tour was the Hmong Hill Tribe village, also located in Northern Thailand inside of Doi Suthep National Park. The Hmong village was more advanced than the Karen, and quite resembled a traditional Thai village you might have seen a decade ago. Since so many people travel Thailand each year, it’s becoming more difficult to find the “local Thailand” visitors crave to see. We can guarantee you by taking this tour, you will have a one of a kind, unforgettable experience.
* Want to learn more about this authentic Thailand Hill Tribe tour? Read our blog here:
If you’re wondering what to do in Chiang Mai but don’t want to hit up the popular tourist spots, then this authentic Northern Thailand Hill Tribe tour is for you. It took us a lot of research to find this experience, since it’s not on any of the Chiang Mai to do lists you find online. We hope by watching this video you were able to get an inside look into life for a local Thailand hill tribe and are inspired to take a hill tribe tour yourself!
If you have any questions about this must do in Chiang Mai, how to travel Thailand, or the best things to do in Chiang Mai, feel free to leave a comment down below. We also have a huge list of Thailand travel vlogs you can watch to help plan your trip to Northern Thailand, Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, or Chiang Mai.

Seafood in Chiang Mai Town Night Market,Thailand
Seafood in Chiang Mai Thailand. Good Seafood restaurants, several bars and Thai massage. Anusarn Night Market is located near the bottom end of the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar on Chang Khlan Road, open to midnight every night. And of course many stalls for handicrafts and souvenirs.
JJ Farmer's Market. Chiang Mai, Thailand.
JJ Farmer's Market(Jing Jai market) is my favorite market in Chiang Mai that open every weekend from 6a.m.-1p.m.
JJ Farmer's Market(Jing Jai market) offer varieties of products from raw vegetables and fruits to cooked meal from farmers.
I think if you're in Chiang Mai you should definitely wake up early on your weekend and visit the JJ market.
