Indigo Dyed Clothing in a Mon Village, Chiang Mai
The TTM+ 2017 also offered 6 six tours around the Chiang Mai area that proved to extremely popular with foreign buyers. These included an exploration of the Royal Agricultural Station and learning how hill tribes can live in harmony with nature. There were also tours exploring food and cooking, Lanna craftmanship, and caring for Thailand’s elephants.
We tagged along with a tour that explored a Mon village to learn about organic living and indigo dying methods. We also visited Meena, a rice-based restaurant for a little taste of the region and to an introduction to Thai cooking.

Art in Paradise in Chiang Mai
Art in Paradise is an art museum with a unique and fun twist. Over 130 pieces of art adorn the museum, each painted in 2D but done so in a way that makes it come alive in an extraordinary three-dimensional and interactive way.
This art form is known as Illusion Art and Art in Paradise, the creation of an enterprising Korean artist, is the first museum of its kind in Northern Thailand.
While most art museums forbid visitors from getting too close to the artwork, Art in Paradise actively encourages its guests to interact with and enjoy the pieces, fully immersing themselves in the interactive 3D artworks, as if they are part of the paintings.
Divided into six distinct zones, you can journey from ancient Egypt to secret underwater worlds and get the chance to see classic works of art in an entirely new and fun way. Make sure you have your camera with you and enjoy becoming part of the paintings.
Art in Paradise makes you look at art in an entirely new way, transforming ordinary artworks into extraordinary, interactive and highly entertaining pieces and a visit to the museum makes for an unforgettable Chiang Mai experience.

JAI THEP FESTIVAL, CHIANG MAI THAILAND 2019
I went to the Jai Thep Festival this January 2019 in Chiang mai! It is one of the bigger music festivals that happens in Chiang mai once or twice a year. It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of things to do! I honestly wish I had been able to film on a saturday instead of a sunday because saturday was the most active day apparently. Even so, i think I was able to capture some of the essence of the Jai Thep festival. It was really fun hanging out with Tanja and Tyler this time around. Let me know what ya think! Thanks for watching!

Chiang Mai Sunday Market: Trying Durian & Eating Bugs | Thailand Vlog | Kathryn Tamblyn
Check out Chiang Mai's amazing Sunday Walking Street Market! The market showcases local Northern Thai artists and the market stalls span across the old city, starting at Tha Phae Gate. We toured the entire parket - I went crazy for the beautiful blankets and Batik textiles. We ate silkworms and tried durian for the first time. Then had Pad Thai and mango sticky rice. . . This is the best market I've been to in Thailand - I highly recommend going when you're visiting Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai Sunday Walking Street Market Info:
- Open from 5pm to 10pm every Sunday
- Starts at Tha Phae Gate
This vlog was filmed in August 2016.

Getting crafty in Thailand - umbrella making and elephant carving in Chiang Mai
This is the third in a series of challenge videos we filmed while we were in Thailand, and this is the first from Chiang Mai, the second city in the north.
Chiang Mai is home to many traditional crafts. Chiang Mai umbrella making is one of its more famous crafts and so it was great fun to go to Bor Sang Umbrella Village and for Terry to turn his hand to creating a masterpiece. Sarah meanwhile met local artist Phet who taught her how to carve elephants from a solid piece of wood.
But the question is, whose artwork was the best - Sarah's or Terry's?
****************
We were in Thailand with Abercrombie & Kent where we undertook a number of challenges with them to take us closer to the Thai experience and culture.
During our trip, we stayed in luxury of course - Abercrombie & Kent is well known for that. In Bangkok we stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, in Chiang Mai at 137 Pillars House, then we finished up with a stay at Banyan Tree Phuket. The accommodation was fantastic, but so was the service.
We were escorted on the trip by A&K guides, Sarah, Joey and Peo, whose knowledge and expertise of our destinations helped us connect ever deeper with Thailand.
But we also got closer to life in Thailand in a way that we hadn't in six previous visits to one of our favourite countries.
BaanBooLOo Baan Khao
BaanBooLOo Baan Khao. Converted Lanna rice barn to beautiful open air villa with en-suite open air bathroom
And views to Doy Suthep Mountain. This room is mostly open to the elements. There is a teak tile roof which although around 50 years old protects in rainy season. 95% of the building is recycled teak. The little villa is fun and quirky. You do need to have a bit of a sense of adventure to stay in this particular room at BaanBooLOo. Although there are nice luxury touches Baan Khao successfully adheres to its Thai farmer charm and chilled living style. It has a very romantic and homey feel at the same time and is ideal for afternoon napping in the summer heat or for having an at home Thai massage under the stilts. Evenings are best spent watching the glorious sunsets over Doy Suthep Mountain. The bathroom is boldy open yet still private enough. It's a kind of rustic paradice just a stone's throw from Wat Pra Singh and in an unbelievably central city location with all the charm and peace of a country village.
Shibori Dyeing with Indigo | Class at Studio Naenna, Chiang Mai
Watch tie-dye & shibori techniques from a class with Patricia Cheesman at Studio Naenna, in Chiang Mai , Thailand.
The natural dyes we used were indigo and jack fruit.
Shot and edited by Elefteria Mantzorou, right in the class. I was there for the class itself, so I did not have any production equipment like tripods, sliders etc.
