Walks in Sussex: Exploring Chichester
Chichester is an ancient town, going back to Roman times when they built the six and a half feet walls around it and the roads to London and Silchester. The Anglo-Saxons were here and the Normans.
I walk the heart of Chichester, exploring the market centre and cathedral. Join me.

How to make a simple pop pop boat from house hold materials. This video tutorial shows you a step by step guide for making a model pop pop ( put put ) boat from an empty coca cola can, a juice carton, 2 straws and some blu-tack. Easy and great fun idea to make with kids. Use an Epoxy glue rather then blu-tack to make the boiler stronger and last longer. Be Careful not to cut yourself on sharp drinks can, you may want to wear safety gloves. :
The area around Chichester is believed to have played significant part during the Roman Invasion of A.D 43, as confirmed by evidence of military storage structures in the area of the nearby Fishbourne Roman Palace. The city centre stands on the foundations of the Romano-British city of Noviomagus Reginorum, capital of the Civitas Reginorum. The Roman road of Stane Street, connecting the city with London, started at the east gate, while the Chichester to Silchester road started from the north gate. The plan of the city is inherited from the Romans: the North, South, East and West shopping streets radiate from the central market cross dating from medieval times. The original Roman city wall was over two metres thick with a steep ditch (which was later used to divert the River Lavant). It survived for over one and a half thousand years but was then replaced by a thinner Georgian wall.

Relaxing Winter Walk Around Chichester City Centre (Wellbeing Walks)
This wellbeing walk is a bit different. Normally I like to go where there are as few people as possible, but I thought I would have a gentle stroll around Chichester City streets to share where I live, what the buildings are like and some of the street art work you can find. These wellbeing walks videos are first person perspective walking tours that I find relaxing, they feature no music, just natural sounds. This walking tour is a winter walk around the streets of Chichester, West Sussex filmed in February 2019. I walk into West Street, cut down the side of the Cathedral into South Street, round the bottom of the town to the city wall, across a car park to get back to the streets, take a route back to South Street, head up South Street into East Street, cut away from East Street, get followed by a John Lewis delivery truck! head near Priory Park and back out on to the top of North Street, head down North Street and turn back into East Street which I follow to John Keats before cutting off East Street to end the walk.
Walking is a great activity for your wellbeing and I find watching relaxing walks helps me to relax when I can't get out and walk myself, or just putting a wellbeing walk on in the background and falling asleep to the sounds of the journey.

Chichester Station Toilets HLC Platform 2
An early example of the concealed arrangement in Chichester Station, rebuilt in 1958 here we see many original features from the design. I don't know what is behind the wall but it is high level. A window from outside looks into the concealed arrangement but too high up for me to see inside but I did try to stand ona bench without drawing too much attention to myself lol
