Chichibu Kagura, dating back to approximately the seventeenth century, with a repertory based on ancient myths, has been designated by the government as an Important Formless Folkloric Cultural Property. Organized by the East Asia Center; East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies; the International Shinto Foundation Chair in Shinto Studies, UCSB; the International Shinto Foundation, New York; and Shinto Kokusai Gakkai. This video is an informational tour to the Mitsumine Shrine/Mitsumine Jinja. Let us enjoy the trip to the shrine through this video while knowing the basic information about this power spot shrine.
Mitsumine Shrine, one of Japan's most beautiful mountain shrines is considered a power spot. It dates back to about 150 A.D. i.e. over 1,900 years.
It is located at the summit of Mount Mitsumine in Chichibu Tama Kai National Park, Saitama prefecture.
(Saitama prefecture shares its border with Tokyo and is a part of greater Tokyo area)

平安初期の書物によると、知知夫彦命（ちちぶひこのみこと）が八意思兼命（やごころおもいかねのみこと）をお祀りしたことに始まる秩父神社の歴史は2100年以上と云われています。現存する社殿は1592年に徳川家康公が寄進したもので、江戸時代に絶大な人気を誇った彫刻家「左甚五郎」の繊細で大胆な色使いの装飾彫刻が施されています。拝殿には「子宝・子育ての虎」、本殿の西側には、よく見て・よく聞いて・よく話す「お元気三猿」、東側には「つなぎの龍」。精細感と広い色域を持つ8Kならではの木の質感、侘び寂びを伝える色彩を感じて下さい。

Mitsumine Shrine 三峰神社 | Chichibu, Japan
Deep into the mountains of Chichibu, Japan, 1000 meters in the air, sits Mitsumine Shrine. It's rare for its worship of the now-extinct Japanese wolf (ookami, オオカミ,狼) and dates back 1900 years. Worship of the animal deities protects one from misfortune. It is an important cultural spot as it has a mythically direct connection to the imperial family and is part of the story of legend Yamato Takeru, celebrated by the Japanese as an ancient unified of the old provinces.

Setsubun Japanese Spring Exorcism at Chichibu Shrine 節分
Setsubun is a Japanese spring exorcism ritual where Japanese throw beans to get rid of evil spirits in the form of oni (devils).
Chichibu Shrine in Saitama has a number of events with roaring devils dancing about to the god Daikoku dancing to amateur sumo wrestlers to tons of beans being thrown around.

Chichibu Night Festival - Saitama - 秩父夜祭 - 4K Ultra HD
Also known as Chichibu Yomatsuri, the Chichibu Night Festival in Saitama, is considered one of Japan’s top three festivals to feature floats, and it is the principal festival at Chichibu Shrine, the main shrine in Saitama's Chichibu region.
Taking place annually on the 3rd of December, the Chichibu Night Festival is an astonishing matsuri, with its climax taking place in the evening when kasaboko and yatai floats, weighing 10-20 tons each and lit up with countless lanterns, climb up a steep slope with a mikoshi (portable shrine).

#MyJapanStory Sacred Pilgrimage in Chichibu, Japan
Last month, Ryosuke told me about a cool pilgrimage in Chichibu. Since it was only 34 temples, it seemed doable if we took a car.
Nope.
We plan to visit Chichibu again in the winter, the spring, and the summer - so we can visit all the temple in ALL the beautiful seasons!

FOREST ADVENTURE CHICHIBU
There are 31 Forest Adventure parks around Japan - it happens to be the case that the one in Chichibu is infamous for being the hardest of them all. We stronly recommend wearing clothes that you wouldn't mind getting dirty, or you can rent outdoor pants/jackets at the on-site rental shop.
CHICHIBU MUSE PARK LOOKOUT SPOT
After tiring yourself out at Forest Adventure, take a quick break at this scenic lookout spot. Once you are done, relive your childhood days by riding the giant roller-slide before you leave.
NOSAKA
This very famous shop specialises in miso pork rice bowl that is iconic to Chichibu. The restaurant is a must try. The best time to visit is on a weekday, and the shop closes as soon as ingredients run out, so be quick.

This is for all the coffee lovers out there. It may be a surprise to some, but this hidden cafe only serves coffee from beans that have been awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence award.

Zazen at Taiyo-ji temple, Chichibu, Japan
The view from the beautiful zazen hall at Taiyo-ji temple in Chichibu during our temple stay, (Shukubo), recommended if you want to see another side of Japan than Tokyo and the other big cities. The monk speaks English and Taiyo-ji temple is very accommodating for tourists from everywhere wanting to get the shukubo experience:
Shibazakura Festival in Chichibu, Japan
From early March to early June, shibazakura (moss phlox) festivals take place across Japan. Planted en masse, they look like a giant carpet of colour! More on the blog:
