【CHICHIBU NIGHT FESTIVAL】秩父夜祭, Chichibu Yomatsuri
Chichibu Night Festival
(秩父夜祭, Chichibu Yomatsuri)
It is held every year on December 2 and 3.
Its floats are ornately decorated with lanterns,
tapestries and gilded wood carvings and are
accompanied by drum and flute music.
The festival's other attraction is its fireworks
display, which lasts almost two and a half hours
and gives you the rare opportunity to enjoy
Japanese fireworks during winter.
Additionally, the streets are lined with stands
selling festival foods and amazake (sweet rice
wine) to combat the cold December night.
From 19:30 to 22:00 a long, spread out fireworks
display is held, which can be seen from many
places around town.

One Night of Love at Chichibu Yomatsuri Festival, Japan
“Chichibu-Yo Matsuri” or Chichibu night Festival, is a Winter festival in Chichibu, held every 2nd and 3rd of December.
The highlight is Kasaboko-lifting, held on the 3rd night. The floats are small kabuki stages.

Chichibu Night Festival is one of them, and is famous as the Three Great Maiden festival / Japan's three big hikiyama festival alongside the Gion Festival in Kyoto, Takayama Festival in Hida.

Some scenes from a Japanese Night Festival: Chichibu Yo Matsuri
2 hours north of Tokyo is the small town of Chichibu. In December, they have a night festival where they pull old wooden floats through the streets. The floats can be as high as 30 feet and are decorated with colorful designed fabrics and strewn with lanterns. People ride on the floats chanting and singing. They also do Noh plays, traditional music, and fireworks.
I've been there twice and this is a montage of scenes from the event I took a few years ago.
