A number of thatched houses have still remained to Miyama town. The north village at the Tomoi district is the roof of the 38 buildings of the 50 households thatched. Preservation of historical landscape, including the building group by the traditional technique has been highly evaluated. It was selected as a national conservation district of traditional buildings in December 1993. Through one year, as a place to meet in Japan of the original landscape, it is gaining popularity as a tourist spot to represent the Miyama-cho.
