Charles and Camilla visit Oman National Museum
(5 Nov 2016) Britain's Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have started a three-nation royal tour of the Gulf in Oman.
The royals started their tour with a visit to Muscat's new National Museum on Saturday.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall received a ceremonial welcome outside the museum and the Al Alm Palace, featuring a performance of sword dancing.
Inside the museum, which showcases the history of the nation from its first human settlement two million years ago through to the present day, the prince viewed demonstrations of traditional handicraft-making and three Royal Rasulid tombstones on long term loan from The Victoria and Albert Museum.
Camilla meanwhile was on a visit to Oman Cancer Association's Dar Al Hanan Hostel to meet children and parents before attending a reception with supporters and sponsors.
The Prince and the Duchess attended a service at Bait Al Noor Church afterward.
The British royals are also scheduled to see Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who has ruled the country on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula since 1970.
