«SONDERGHETTO»
At the end of 1941, an unusual district appeared on the territory of the Minsk Ghetto that was one of the
largest ghettos in Europe. The “old-timers” of the Minsk Ghetto called the district “Hamburg’s district”,
because the first train with German Jews arrived on the Belarusian territory from Hamburg. Jews were
assured: “You are going to live on the new territories”. The “displaced residents” even paid for the
transit...
Trains with the “displaced residents” arrived in Minsk from Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Koenigsberg, Berlin,
Frankfurt... and then from Austria and the Czech Republic till the middle of 1942.
However, it was not necessary for the deported Jews to live on the new territories: the Jews were sent
away from the city and murdered in the death camp “Trostenez” that was situated just within a few
kilometers of Minsk. Some trains with the deported Jews drove straight to the death camp, without
stopping in the city.
According to some reports, 7 transports with Jews from Germany (6,428 people), 11 transports from Austria (10,476 people) and 7 transports from the Czech Republic (7,000 people) were sent to the Minsk
region in 1941-1942. 23,904 people were deported in 25 transports. Almost every Jew was murdered!
Some historians suppose that there were “displaced residents” from Poland, Hungary and France...
The documental film “Sonderghetto” is about this little-known chapter of the Holocaust, the Names and tragic destiny of the murdered Jews. It is also about the daily life in “Sonderghetto” and the relations
between “Hamburg’s district” and “Minsk’s district” Jews...
It is planned to shoot the film in those cities of Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria, from where
Jews were sent away by Nazis. In this regard the materials from the local museums will be used, the
interviews with historians and family members of the Holocaust victims will be prepared and the sites of
memory will be screened.
In the middle of the film there are stories of three children, who were saved from deportation. Edna Magder, Kurt Marx and Michael Rozenberg will tell us about their losses and their rescue.

Russia: After 20 years of disappearance, lost girl finds parents

Twenty four-year-old Yulia Gorina found her parents after twenty years of disappearance and living with an adoptive family in Russia's Ryazan city, as footage released on Wednesday showed in Minsk and Ryazan.
Yulia disappeared at the age of four while travelling on train from Asipovichy town to Minsk in 1999. Her father took a nap and woke up not being able to find his little daughter. Yulia hardly remembers the details of that day.
I don't remember how I went by train. I only remember how the patrol and sentry service officers found me on the train station 'Ryazan-2'. So, I remember a man who took me off the train and told me to wait for him but he left. Later the officers took me to the police department and booked me before sending me to a counseling service centre for children, said Yulia.
On August 16, Yulia's boyfriend and Ryazan city activist Ilya Kryukov found the details about a little girl's disappearance from those years and tried to compare the description. The information appeared to be factual.
We found an APB from Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs on 'Arshanskaja Gazeta' website that Yulia Victorovna, who was lost on the railway track from Asipovichy town to Minsk on October 1 in 1999, was wanted. If I'm not mistaken, it was connected with the railway track from Asipovichy town. So, we called them after we saw that APB, said Ilya.
Lyudmila and Viktor Moiseenko, Yulia's parents, were looking for their daughter all over Belarus, asking for help from law enforcement agencies, mass media and volunteers. However, Yulia was in Russia during all those years.
Now Yulia is going to visit her parents in Belarus again but doesn't want to change her citizenship, as she lives in Russia with her little daughter.

A week before our departure date we were heard talking that the bags must definitely not be packed in the last day. On the day of our leaving we were heard talking that we will pack our bags at least 3 hours before the train. Saying goodbyes to our loved ones at the central station we were heard talking that we will pack our bags during the train-ride. And yet, there were we – sitting on the platform in Мінск-Пасажырскі and trying to pack our bags to achieve at least the state in which we can put everything on our bikes and are actually able to cycle somewhere.

New double deck trains customized for Russian conditions were given an imposing name ‘Eurasia’, being yet another evidence of this project particular status. “Today’s event is the milestone for the whole public transport of Russia – the first double deck train at the European level has arrived into Russia. The project discussions and planning took some time, it is being implemented in record-breaking time, and now we are welcoming our first Eurasia Aeroexpress train.
ESh2 Eurasia (Russian: ЭШ2 «Евразия», also Evrazia) is the name of the Stadler KISS double-deck high speed electric express trains. These trains are used by three operators — Russian Railways and Aeroexpress,[1] [2] Azerbaijan Railways and Georgian Railways.
In 2014, due to the growth of passenger traffic on the routes connecting urban stations to airports, Aeroexpress has signed a contract with Stadler AG: a contract for production of 25 double-deck TGV-based Stadler KISS family—16 4-car set and 9 6-car version. The cost of all 118 cars is 385.31 million euros. According to the production plan, the first three trains will be fully assembled in Altenrhein where there is scientific and practical center Stadler. Assembly of the remaining 22 trains will be implemented in the new plant of the company in Minsk.
The first of twenty five new Aeroexpress double-decker trains has arrived at Moscow depot from the recently built factory in Minsk, Belarus.

“Every year Aeroexpress passenger numbers grow by about 20% resulting in many trains now running full. It is time to increase the capacity and frequency of rail services to Moscow's major airports. First task is already being solved by the new double-deckers that are able to carry approximately 30-32% more passengers, compared to current rolling stock. The second task will require some more years as it is necessary to build additional railway tracks. But the new double-deckers will solve the capacity issue at least until 2018, guaranteeing our passengers high level of comfort,” Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin said in the train revealing ceremony.
he new double-decker trains will ensure easy access with is a special mechanical elevator and a large toilet for disabled passengers. While designing the train a special attention was paid to the needs of passengers traveling with small children - toilet rooms are equipped with changing tables with the disinfecting lamps. The size of the trains allowed increasing baggage storage capability with extra luggage space under seats, the top shelves and dedicated area at the beginning, the middle and the end of the train.
