Protest: no Moscow trash in Yaroslavl
Look at this case as one of dozens #russia #moscowtrash #crisis
18 of april 2018 Yaroslavl, Russia
Citizens came out to protest against the Moscow trash dumping in Yaroslavl and demand for the urgent introduction of the recycling scheme. There are still no dedicated containers for recyclables in the city. Local waste dump will reach its limit in 2-3 years.
Regional authorities has shown total ignorance about the people’s needs.
First the officials were denying the fact that 30 tons trucks were delivering waste from the capital to the region despite of the video evidences. There are few facts of information falsification were registered like hiding a published material from the official web page.
A week later after 35000 of people has signed up a petition against “Moscow trash in Yaroslavl” and all the Yaroslavl society was highly disturbed by the news, the governor Mironov has announced that “the decision has been taken”.
Moscow is in the serios trash crisis right now. Within the last year we are witnessing few simultaneous scandals and protests in Moscow region with people suffocating from the dump gases, local authorities total ignorance and activists taken to prison for stopping trash trucks.
Instead of looking the eco-friendly solutions the capital started to dump its waste all over the regions around: Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Tver’, Vladimir.
Where we are now:
1/ We are dealing now with the violation of the constitutional right for the save environment and open information about ecological situation.
2/ Few days after the protest and no adequate reaction from the authorities - no steps towards the dialog. Local TV channel showed a fake news on the 18.04 hiding a fact of the protest.
3/ Frustrated citizens has initiated a coalition for solving the trash problem. There is a public group in VK helping people to get informed about the situation
4/ A new petition with the demand for resignation of the governor Mironov has been initiated.
* Since the right of electing the regional governors has been taken away from citizens in Russia, we are ruled by people set by the president. Mironov has been sent to Yaroslavl from Moscow and as we see has no interest or compassion for the region - he is just executes the will of the center, not the people.
Yaroslavl, birthplace of Russian theatre - Postcard from Russia
Our postcard this week is from the birthplace of the Russian theatre.
Four hours by train north of Moscow, Yaroslavl is home to the famous Volkov Theatre, where Russia's first national drama company was formed.
It may be the country's oldest professional theatre company, reported Euronews' Seamus Kearney, but it's still very much at the heart of Russian theatre.
When the Postcards team paid a visit, the cast was rehearsing a modern adaptation of the Greek myth Orpheus and Eurydice ... while another play was being performed in a smaller auditorium.
Evgeny Marchelli, the Artistic Director of the Volkov Theatre, said:
Working in this theatre really fills me with emotion, and it motivates me to make it the best theatre in Russia, with a young feeling.

The Trans-Siberian Railway - Documentary
Documentary on the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia.
For those who travel for the pleasure of the journey, those who believe that getting there is as much fun as being there, Russia's Trans-Siberian Railway has long been an almost mythic experience. It is the longest continuous rail line on earth, each run clattering along in an epic journey of almost six thousand miles (or about ten thousand kilometers) over one third of the globe. For most of its history, the Trans-Siberian journey has been an experience of almost continuous movement, seven days or more of unabated train travel through the vast expanse of Russia. A great part of the pleasure of such a trip is simply sitting back and watching the land go by. However, most travelers on the Trans-Siberian find that interaction with other passengers, both Russians and tourists, is what makes the trip an unforgettable experience. Today, with far fewer travel restrictions, it is possible to use the rail journey as the core of a more varied tour. Travelers can enjoy stopovers in many of the Russian cities and towns along the route, from the historic Volga port of Yaroslavl to Irkutsk and the scenic Lake Baikal region.

Russia: Family living in accordance with XVI century rules opens its doors to journalists
A Russian family from Yarsolavl that has been living in accordance to 'Domostroi' (English: Domestic Order), a set of household rules and traditions dating back to the time of Ivan the Terrible, opened their door to journalists for the first time in 15 years, Tuesday.
SOT Sergei Rozov, father (Russian): First of all you should remember god, because with god everything is possible. And the hierarchy of values will be organised in the right way. If a man serves god, he also serves the state, tsar or president. Otherwise it is impossible.
SOT, Alina Rozova, mother (Russian): 'Domostroi' and the Law of God stand together. The other way round, Domostroi is an application of the Law of God on our ordinary lives.

Train carrying Syria war trophies tours Russia
(28 Apr 2019) LEADIN:
A train carrying trophies from the Syrian war is continuing its tour of Russia.
The exhibition includes 20 wagons of items seized by the Russian military during their operation in the war-torn country.
STORYLINE:
Armoured vehicle after armoured vehicle pass the crowds at Vladimir's railway station.
These are the spoils of war: items seized by the Russian military during their Syria campaign.
They have become part of a travelling exhibition called 'Syrian Breakthrough' which is on tour now.
The train carrying these trophies left Moscow at the end of February on its 30,000 kilometre (18,600 mile) journey, via annexed Crimea and the far east of Russia.
Vladimir is just one stop on a more than 60-city tour.
There are 20 wagons of war memorabilia to see - half the wagons hold a weapons display.
There are also military vehicles, rockets, artillery weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles captured from opposition fighters during the course of the operation.
Russia has been a key ally for Syrian President Bashar Assad.
With their military assistance, his forces have regained control of most of the territory previously held by rebels during the civil war.
Vladimir Pakov, military official for the Nizhny Novgorod region, is on hand as the train makes its next stop in Yaroslavl.
With this exhibition, we are showing that peace is very fragile and only our unity and strong military forces are able to defend our independence and sovereignty of our country and prevent the spread of terrorism and its penetration into our country, he says.
For locals, it's an opportunity to see up close the reality of war.
It was interesting to look at what the military are fighting because on TV it is not that obvious, says ladimir Galitsky, a resident of Yaroslavl.
The mobile exhibition has been organised by Russia's Minister of Defence under the direction of President Vladimir Putin.
The train is expected to return to Moscow by the end of the month.
