Chilkur Balaji Temple Located almost 30 kilometres from Hyderabad, Chilkur is a small village which is also a popular pilgrimage. Chilkur Balaji Temple, popularly known as Visa Balaji Temple'', is an ancient Hindu temple of Lord Balaji on the banks of Osman Sagar in Hyderabad.
It is one of the oldest temples in Hyderabad built during the time of Madanna and Akkanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramadas.
This temple has no hundi and neither accepts any money from devotees.VAK Books also known as the Voice of Temples with religious news is available here. This is one of the special Temples in India with no green channel or privileges for VIP's. The only other such temple is the Jalaram temple in Virpur (Rajkot), Gujarat. This temple fought and won the right to stay out of government control. The only another such temple is Ramanuj Kot, a temple in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
During a visit the devotee goes through the usual rituals of prayer, including 11 circumambulations of the inner shrine, and makes a vow. Once the wish is fulfilled devotees then walk 108 times around the sanctum sanctorum. The majority of wishes by devotees are visa related, thus Chilkur Balaji is also referred to as 'Visa' Balaji. The 11 circumambulations represent the secret of creation — 11 means 1 soul and 1 body —
uniting both with devotion and full determination to fulfill wish, dedicate on the lord; there is no second, everything is god. In the 108 circumambulations, 1 represents the Existence, Almighty, God (Paramathma, Balaji in the minds of the devotee), 0 represents Creation (Illusionary World, Jagath) and 8 represents the time Human Body takes to come to this universe-8 months (Jivatma).

From the style, structure and appearance, it can be inferred that the temple was built half a millennium ago. Set in sylvan surroundings, Chilkur Balaji Temple attracts millions of pilgrims every year and is an ideal place for sequestered retreat and meditation. It enjoyed in the past, great days of pomp and glory.
The temple is one of the oldest in Hyderabad, having been built during the time of Akkanna and Madanna, the uncles of Bhakta Ramdas. According to tradition, a devotee who used to visit Tirupati every year could not do so on one occasion owing to serious ill health. Lord Venkateshwara appeared in his dream and said, I am right here in the nearby forest. You don't have to worry. The devotee at once moved to the place indicated by the Lord in the dream and saw a molehill there, which he dug up. Accidentally, the axe struck Lord Balaji's idol (covered by the molehill) below the chin and on the chest. Surprisingly blood started flowing profusely from the wounds, flooding the ground and turning it scarlet. The devotee could not believe his eyes. He could not believe his ears when he heard a voice from the air saying, Flood the molehill with cow's milk. When the devotee did so, a Swayambhu idol of Lord Balaji accompanied by Sridevi and Bhoodevi (a rare combination) was found, and this idol was installed with the due rites and a temple built for it.

Chilkur Balaji is also known for being one of the very few temples in India without any hundi or donation box, preaching only the devoutness in one’s nature.
Usually, the devotees follow a common pattern. They offer 11 “pradakshinas” and their prayers to the deity. Once the wish is granted, they take 108 pradakshinas of the temple to show their gratitude and thank the God.
The rounds are done amid the chanting of mantras and religious yet lively talks of the highly educated priests, who speak and motivate devotees in English and Telugu. This temple is known for its positive and peaceful atmosphere, away from the commercialized touch.
It is approximated that about 75,000 to 1 lakh devotees visit Chilkur Balaji temple of Hyderabad every week. Although it is visited by hordes of devotees throughout the year, the number of visitors increases by many folds during the occasion of Anakota, Brahmotsavams and Poolangi.
Chilkur Balaji temple is also visited by many great spiritual and religious gurus. To name a few, Chilkur Balaji temple is often visited by Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt, Tilakayaths of Shri Vallabhacharya Sampradaya,. Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya of Sringeri Mutt and many others.
Chilkur Balaji temple darshan timings are from 5 in the morning to 8 in the night. It is open throughout the week. Devotees can be seen doing pradakshina since morning till late in the night. Outside the temple, there are many small hotels as well. For accommodation, you can go to the Haritha Hotel by Telangana Tourism which is located very near to the Chilkur Balaji temple.

It was a divine experience of devotion and peace .. with the beauty of nature and calm environment of chanted mantras . Well I visited few days back chilkur balaji temple which is also known as Visa temple . It’s located 30 kilometers from Hyderabad Telangana city (Himayatnagar) . The Fabulous architecture of devotion was built around half million years ago . So I went there with one of my friend . We hired an auto with a long bargaining discussion with the auto driver and finally he got convinced for round trip at Rs.600/- . During the auto journey Outer ring road to Himayat nagar, we saw surrounding area was full of greenery and mango plantation garden . That time weather was quite pleasant and we reached there at 4:30 pm .That place where the chilkur temple is located its surrounding area is full of market where you find fruits stall , devotional items , dhaba for food and hotels are also available for tourist stay. There people come to us and guide where you have to go and what kind of prasad you should take to offer the god normally 75000 to 100000 devotees come every week to this temple .According to the tales, earlier people who could not climb to tirupati balaji temple with health issue used to visit the chilkur balaji temple which is alternative of Tirupati temple . And If you are facing problem in getting foreign visa so visit this temple and do Pradakshina (Parikrama) of this temple and surely you will get the visa to foreign country . According to common practice at the time of wish devotees do 11 Pradakshina (parikrama) of the god . And once the wish gets fulfilled or you get the visa devotees do 108 Pradakshina (parikrama) of god and give thanks to god . So when I reached the temple I saw many of the devotees doing the pradakshina of god . Environment over there was full of chanted mantras and peaceful atmosphere . Priests over there are so much educated that they know Hindi , English and Telugu . This is the only temple of in india where no donation is accepted in the temple. If you really want to donate the money there is the bank account mentioned on the sign board you can deposit the money which is only used for maintenance of the temple . So I had the opportunity to see the god‘s idol there and performed the pooja . After that I clicked a few photos out side the temple . One more thing if you want to use the camera inside the temple you can but don't try to take the pic of the god or else the priest will shout at you the chilkur balaji temple darshan timing are from 5 am to 8 pm . The temple is open for devotees for the whole week . I visited there on Saturday it was a very divine experience for me .

Chilkur Balaji Temple holds special prayers for solving 'banking crisis'
Hyderabad (Telangana), Feb 20 (ANI): As the whole country is shocked over the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud, a special pooja 'Chakrabaja Madala Arachana' was performed at Chilkur Balaji Temple in Ranga Reddy district to 'save money facing threat from political and governmental interference in banking system'. At the Chilkur Temple, the devotees in thousands chanted the Runa Vimochana Nrusimha Stotram a special chanting invoking the Lion God. The priests also urged the people to do the chanting to bring back the 'failed banking' system on the right track.
