Unreleased Aero Road Bikes: China Bike Show 2019 - Day 2
Day 2 of the China Cycle Bike Show here in Shanghai, China. We took a look at the huge selection of Aero Road bikes. Aero road bikes with hydraulic disc brakes, internal cables and fully integrated cockpits were definitely a theme among the bikes this year.

The Hottest Bikes of the China Bike Show 2019 - Day 3
Day 3 of the China Bike Show in Shanghai, China and we walked around checking out the most beautiful bikes we could find. I also summarize the 5 trends of the show. 1) Disc Brakes - They were everywhere. Probably more disc brake road bikes than rim brakes.2) Aero bikes. Most of the bikes were aero bikes with integrated stem and bar combos, hidden cables, dropped seat stays and aero seat posts. 3) Funky paintjobs. In a quest to stand out from the crowd, most Chinese manufacturers have turned to paintwork. Lots of different approaches, fades, pearlescent, custom graphics, the works. 4) Power meters. Cheap power meter. It seems so many new power meters are out there now. 5) New groupsets. While not really high end, there were plenty of new groupsets to checkout.

Cycling in Shanghai, China
As of 2014, Shanghai is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of China and the most populous city proper in the world, with a population of more than 24 million.
It is a global financial centre and transport hub, with the world's busiest container port. Located in the Yangtze River Delta, it sits on the south edge of the estuary of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the East China coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.
As a major administrative, shipping and trading city, Shanghai grew in importance in the 19th century due to trade and recognition of its favourable port location and economic potential. The city was one of five treaty ports forced open to foreign trade following the British victory over China in the First Opium War.
The subsequent 1842 Treaty of NanJing and 1844 Treaty of Whampoa allowed the establishment of the Shanghai International Settlement and the French Concession. The city then flourished as a centre of commerce between China and other parts of the world (predominantly Western countries), and became the primary financial hub of the Asia-Pacific region in the 1930s.
However, with the Communist Party takeover of the mainland in 1949, trade was limited to other socialist countries, and the city's global influence declined. In the 1990s, the economic reforms introduced by Deng Xiaoping resulted in an intense re-development of the city, aiding the return of finance and foreign investment to the city.
Shanghai has been described as the showpiece of the booming economy of mainland China; renowned for its Lujiazui skyline, and museums and historic buildings, such as those along The Bund, as well as the City God Temple and the Yu Garden.
China's Bicycle sharing WENT INSANE!
Everyone loves China's innovative bike sharing schemes... Well they used to! People still love to ride them, but new companies are flooding the market and the amount of these bikes around the city are insane! They're becoming a problem and are being neglected, left in strange places, vandalised and you won't believe the footage I have of them in this video! Come and see how bike sharing has gone overboard in China!
Mobike (Chinese Simplified: 摩拜单车, Mo-bai bicycle), founded and owned by Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese Simplified: 北京摩拜科技有限公司), is a fully station-less bicycle-sharing system headquartered in Beijing, China. It is the world's largest bicycle operator, and in December 2016, made Shanghai the world's largest bike-share city.
In January 2017, Mobike raised $215 million in Series D funding led by Tencent and Warburg Pincus.
Access to Mobike bicycles is achieved using the purpose-built Mobike application, which requires a pre-paid 299 yuan fee to prevent deliberate damage of Mobike property. Each user is required to register using their mobile number alongside his/her national identification number (Passport identification and verification is also available for non-Chinese citizens). The software automatically disallows users under the age of 14 to use the app, through the identification number.
To use a bicycle, a user presses the black button near the bottom labeled 扫码开锁 (Scan code to unlock), which brings up a QR-code scanning interface, which requires the user to place the QR-code of a bicycle into the scanning area, after which the software will produce a low-toned beep to indicate a success in scanning the code. After a successful scan a progress bar will appear on the screen, indicating the Progression of unlocking. With a successful unlock, the electronic lock on the bike will produce three short beeps followed by the characteristic Tuck sound generated by the lock opening. In the app, the progress bar fills to 100%, and the notice 开锁成功 (Unlock successful) appears for a short period before getting replaced by the rental timing interface. This interface also records the distance traveled, time spent, energy the user spent using the vehicles (in kCals), and an orange banner indicating the number of the bike and the estimated cost of using the bike. The first three stats shown on the interface will be added to the total value on the user page, while the cost will be deducted from the user's account. If several seconds elapse after the bar fills to 98% without starting the trip in the APP, an error will be reported to the user asking them to try again or change to another bicycle.
Availability in deployed cities is high, but reduces as the distance from the city center increases. Many Mobike bicycles can be found at entrances to metro stations. It is currently deployed in dozens of Chinese cities, which includes but are not limited to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Ningbo, Xiamen, Foshan, Zhuhai, Changsha, Hefei, Shantou, Haikou, Deyang, Nanning, Xi'an and Wuhan.

Bike Tour Shanghai (Culture Shock) | Shanghai Vlog
Filming and biking is not a good idea...
Follow me on Instagram: SHANGHAI VLOGGER
So I went on this biking tour arranged by a company called Culture Shock. It was actually really cool! They showed me stuff in Shanghai that I never had seen before (even though I have lived here for 7 months)
Follow me on Instagram: SHANGHAI VLOGGER
Here is some facts about the tour and company:
Founded in 2015 by young entrepreneurs who wanted an alternative to standard/touristy bike tours, together with Shanghainese local experts they looked into a new option for both short-term visitors and expats living in Shanghai.
Culture Shock experiences are multi-theme & off the beaten path tours allowing guests to enjoy China History/Culture/Food and much more, with an experienced foreign tour leader speaking Mandarin, in just a Half day!
We believe that the discovery of a city and its culture cannot be limited to a few buildings and historic dates.
It requires meeting with its people and letting interactions happen naturally for a full immersion.

Chinese Groupsets at the Shanghai Bike Show 2019
We're all used to seeing groupsets from Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo, but there's a growing group of groupsets from Chinese manufacturers. Most of them are aimed at the budget market, but more and more are going for the mid-level of the road bike market..
They're probably not ready to replace your SRAM Red or Shimano Dura-Ace yet, but it's a segment of the market worth keeping an eye on - especially for budget builds.
