China National Flower Garden, Luoyang
Constructed in September, 2001, China National Flower Garden is China's largest peony themed garden. It is located on the Remains of City Walls of the Sui and Tang Dynasties at the south bank of the Luo River. The China National Flower Garden is home to more than 1000 species of peony with a population of 600,000 peonies.

Spring has sprung and Luoyang has burst into color. For the 32nd year, the city in central China's Henan Province is hosting a festival celebrating the peony, China's national flower.

Luoyang has a long history of planting peonies, which are seen as a symbol of abundance and elegance.

Exploring China's ancient capital of Luoyang
Luoyang in Henan Province was the oldest participant city in the Grand Canal Project.
Famous for its beautiful peonies, magnificent Longmen Grottoes and legendary White Horse Temple, Luoyang was the capital for 13 dynasties, and the heart of the canal.

There is a Peony Festival in Luoyang from April 1 to May 2 every year. We were a little late and the blooms were far and few between but the sights within the park were interesting.
One group of elderly Chinese who gather every morning to sing about having happiness in your heart, and enjoy life...something we all should do. There was a small circus, stalls selling stuff and everywhere, the beautiful Chinese children having a ball. An enjoyable way to spend a morning.

November 2016 - Luoyang is one of the oldest imperial capital cities in China with many impressive culture heritages which are dated back to the Song Dynasty.
Luoyang is situated along the northern side of the Luo River. The train station is located to the north of the town centre, and Jinguyuan Lu (金谷园路) goes from the station to Wangcheng Square. To the east is the Old Town and to the west the Wangcheng Park. Tourists come here primarily to see the Longmen Caves, The White Horse Temple and Guanlin Temple which all lie in proximity to the town, rather than the town itself.
Ancient tree bears 256 peony blossoms in central China
Have you been on the hunt for a lavish flower? You may come to Luoyang, a city known as China's city of peonies.
A 120-year-old peony tree is bearing up to 256 blossoms at an ancient peony garden in the city.
The peony king is 2.7 meters tall and 3.7 meters wide.

The shape of the branches looks natural but compelling, and the flowers are gorgeous.
Staff at the Peony Park say the tree once had a record of nearly 300 flowers blossoming.
Luoyang used to be the imperial capital of 13 dynasties.
It's is home to the country's best peony trees.
The flower was preferred by royal families for its luxuriant blossoms, which symbolize prosperity and wealth.
The city holds an annual festival to celebrate the blooms. This year's event kicked off earlier in April.
