황산에서 가장 풍수가 좋은 곳이라는 옥병루. 이곳에서 보통 식사와 숙박을 하기 때문에 늘 등산객들로 붐비는 곳인데 사람들이 길게 줄을 서 있는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 기념사진을 찍기 위해서였는데 이곳에 황산을 상징하는 소나무 영객송이 있기 때문이다. 수령이 천 년이 넘었다는 영객송은 말없이 천 년 동안 황산을 찾아오는 손님을 맞이하고 있다. 옥병루에서 바라다 보이는 천도봉은 황산에서 가장 산세가 험준한 봉우리다. 나는 연화봉 대신 이 천도봉에 오르기로 했다. 천도봉 등산로는 가파른 암벽을 깎아 만든 돌계단으로 로프를 잡고 오르는 암벽등반과 같다. 때문에 얼음이 어는 겨울에는 등반이 금지된다. 숨을 한 번 크게 들이쉬고 천천히 발걸음을 옮겼다. 천도봉 등정의 마지막 고비인 천교. 깎아지른 절벽 위로 지나가려니 고소 공포증이 있는 나로서는 발이 잘 떨어지지 않았다. 그냥 돌아서기에는 힘들게 올라온 것이 너무 억울해 내 발 끝만 보며 조심스럽게 천교를 건넜다. 드디어 천도봉 정상. 이곳에 서 있는 사람들의 마음은 모두 나와 같을 것이다.

China's Extraordinary Hotels: Designing Heritage -- Wuxi | Megan Zhang
At the heart of the fertile, affluent, and very populated Yangtze River Delta is Wuxi. I'd argue the network of waterways is what defines this city! Crisscrossing rivers, the bridges they necessitate, and the rolling hills surrounding everything create a sense of ever-changing scenery. Water is also what put Wuxi on the map centuries ago as an important transport hub along the Grand Canal (the longest manmade waterway in the world!).
In the second episode of Travelogue's series China's Extraordinary Hotels, I visit an accommodation that captures the identity of this poetic water town. This is an excerpt from the episode.

We had an opportunity to learn about the changes between the past and present with Philip from France, through traveling the central and northern cities of Anhui Province by high-speed train. During this particular trip, we witnessed the traces of reformation, which values innovation, development, harmony, sharing, and environment-friendliness, by capturing the harmonious development in both the urban and rural areas of Hefei, Huainan, Bengbu, and Chuzhou on camera.
On the train we shared old stories about how it used to take 12 hours to get to Hefei and how some people would carry a basket with chickens inside. We also discussed about 'development' at a station, a microcosm of society.
Hefei, the fastest-growing seat of a provincial government for the past decade, proudly introduced China Speech Valley, an AI-focused industrial base, which has shown remarkable improvement as a new industry in English-Chinese translation.
Huainan, known for its iron towers, invested 2.4 billion yuan or more in managing abandoned mines and was looking for new ways of developing the industrial city. Huainan Data Village proposed a new idea of urban improvement with its creative operation base of video clouds and initiative for innovation. Also, the new goal of 'introducing new drone technology' made us all curious.
Bengbu, a city of civilization, showed the future-oriented Chinese archaeology through an excavation process and gave us a new historical information of 'uhoejehu', a rite to heaven performed by village leaders from all over the country.
Chuzhou, a popular tourist attraction, provided us with a myriad of sightseeing and food choices at Dongsheng Town Center and offered a meaningful time to take a look at the past, present, and future of Anhui by sharing an advanced notion regarding 24-hour public agencies like the health services center.
프랑스인인 필립과 함께 안후이 성의 중부와 북부도시를 고속철로를 따라 돌아다니며 과거와 현재의 변화에 대해 알아보는 시간을 가졌다. 안후이의 도시와 농촌의 조화로운 발전을 촬영하며 허페이에서 화이난, 벙부와 추저우까지 돌아봤던 이번 기행에서는 혁신, 개발, 조화, 공유, 친환경이라는 발전 가치관의 인도 하에 다양한 개혁을 둘러볼 수 있었다.
철도를 타며 과거 상하이에서 허페이로 갈 때 기차로 12시간이나 걸렸으며 닭이 담긴 바구니를 들고 탄 옛 이야기가 회자되기도 했는데, 오늘날 사회의 축소판을 담아낸 기차역에서 '발전'과 관련된 담소를 나누기도 했다.
허페이는 10년 동안 중국에서 가장 빠르게 발전한 성 정부 소재지가 되었는데 신산업 분야에서 무수한 발전을 이루며 영어를 중국어로 번역해주는 인공지능산업인 차이나 스피치 밸리에 대해 언급되기도 했다.
또한 철탑으로 유명한 화이난에서는 24억 위안 이상의 자금을 투자하여 광산 붕괴 지역을 관리하고 기존 공업 도시가 발전할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 찾고 있었는데, 화이난 데이터빌리지에서 동영상 클라우드 운영기지/혁신드라이브로 미래를 창조해 새로운 도시 발전의 개념을 제시했다고도 알렸다.
한편 '드론의 신기술 도입'이라는 새로운 목표를 언급해 궁금증을 증폭시키기도 했다.
문명도시로 알려진 벙부에서는 발굴 작업을 진행하며 중국 고고학의 미래지향적인 모습을 보여주기도 했는데, 전국 부락의 우두머리를 투샨산으로 불러모아 하늘에 제사를 지낸 '우회제후'에 대해 밝혀 새로운 역사적 정보를 알려주었다.
추저우시에서는 동성 타운센터를 방문해 다양한 볼거리와 먹거리를 보여주며 관광명소로서의 면모를 드러냈으며 보건서비스센터와 같은 24시간 공공관리 기관을 보여주며 선진 개념에 대해 소개하며 안후이의 과거, 현재, 미래를 살펴볼 수 있는 의미있는 시간을 담아냈다.
