Shri Chintamani Ganesh Temple, Kalamb ...Yavatmal
Kalamb (कळंब) is a village in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra state in India. It is famous today for its underground temple devoted to the Hindu god Ganesha. The temple is known as Shree Chintamani Temple and the belief is that Sri Chintamani removes all worries. The temple is also noted for a sacred water tank known as Ganesh Kunda. It is one of the 21 Kshetras of Ganesh throughout India. Kalamb is a village situated on the banks of the River Chakravarti. Shri Chintamani yatra begins on the Magh Shukla Paksha Pratipada and the important rituals and fair is held from Chaturthi to Saptami.

आख्यायिका
ब्रम्हदेवाने आपले चित्त स्थिर करण्यासाठी गणपतीची या जागी आराधना केली. त्यामुळे या गावाला थेऊर असे नाव पडले, अशी अख्यायिका आहे. यासंदर्भात आणखी एक कथा आहे. राजा अभिजीत व राणी गुणवतीचा मुलगा गुणाने कपिलमुनींकडे असलेला चिंतामणी हे रत्न चोरले. कपिलमुनींना हे कळले तेव्हा त्यांनी गणपतीला ते रत्न गुणाकडून परत आणण्याची विनंती केली. गणपतीने गुणाचा वध करून ते रत्न कपिलमुनींना दिले. मात्र, कपिलमुनींनी हे रत्न गणपतीला अर्पण केले. गणपतीच्या गळ्यात त्यांनी ते घातले व त्यांची चिंताही दूर झाली. त्यामुळे गणपतीला येथे चिंतामणी या नावाने ओळखले जाऊ लागले.
इतिहास[संपादन]
गणपतीचे मंदिर हे धरानिधर महाराज देव यांनी बांधले. १०० वर्षांनंतर पेशव्यांनी तेथे भव्य व आकर्षक मंदिर व सभागृह बांधले. हे मंदिर पूर्णपणे लाकडापासून बनवले आहे. त्याकाळी हे मंदिर बांधायला ४० हजार रूपये लागले होते. युरोपीयांकडून पेशव्यांना पितळाच्या दोन मोठ्या घंटा मिळाल्या होत्या. त्यातील एक महाडला असून दुसरी येथे आहे. वयाच्या २७व्या वर्षी माधवराव पेशव्यांना क्षयरोग झाला. तेव्हा त्यांना येथे आणण्यात आले. या गणपतीसमोरच त्यांची प्राणज्योत मालवली. त्यांची पत्नी रमाबाई त्यानंतर सती गेल्या. त्यांच्या स्मरणार्थ येथे बाग तयार करण्यात आली आहे. मोरया गोसावी यांना येथेच सिद्धी प्राप्त झाल्याचेही सांगितले जाते.
मंदिर[संपादन]
श्री चिंतामणीचे मंदिर भव्य असून मंदिराच्या आवारात एक मोठी घंटा आहे. मंदिरातील मूर्ती स्वयंभू असून डाव्या सोंडेची, आसन घातलेली व पूर्वाभिमुख आहे. त्याच्या दोन्ही डोळ्यात लाल मणी व हिरे आहेत. हे मंदिर आजही मजबूत स्थितीत आहे.
भौगोलिक[संपादन]
मुळा-मुठा नदींने वेढलेले हे श्री क्षेत्र थेऊर पुणे-सोलापूर रेल्वेमार्गावर पुण्यापासून २५ कि.मी. अंतरावर असलेल्या लोणी गावापासून फक्त सात कि.मी.वर आहे
