Llangollen Canal - Chirk Tunnel
Video of the Chirk Tunnel on the Llangollen Canal. It's unusual in that it has a towpath throughout so you can walk though it (there's a handrail, but a torch is recommended). You can read about it at

Narrowboat passing through Chirk Tunnel and crossing Chirk Aqueduct
UK canal boat holidays. We love going on canal boat holidays on the English canals, and the Welsh canals too! In 2016 we hired a narrowboat from Anglo-Welsh (from their Trevor Basin base). Here is a film of us on a canal boat holiday cruising through Chirk Tunnel and then crossing Chirk aqueduct - on the Llangollen Canal. The aqueduct is particularly interesting because, while crossing Chirk Aqueduct you pass from Wales into England (or vice versa if you're going in the opposite direction!). We were lucky to be crossing Chirk Aqueduct on our narrowboat at exactly the same time as a train was crossing over Chirk Viaduct! If you have ever wondered what to do on a canal boat holiday, this video should give you a taste of the main reason for taking a UK canal boat holiday - slow down, chill out, enjoy the peace and the scenery!

Walking the Chirk Aqueduct
In this video we walk the Chirk Aqueduct on the Llangollen Canal, from north to south; so from Wales to England.
Chirk Aqueduct And Canal By Drone November 2018
A drones view of the Aqueduct in Chirk and a little bit of the canal. It was nice this time of year with all the different colours of the trees.
Filmed using a DJi Phanthom 3 Standard with Argtek Antenna Modification.

Llangollen Canal with Pontcysyllte and Chirk aqueducts
Llangollen Canal runs between England and Wales and hosts the longest and highest aqueduct in the UK, Pontcysyllte - built in 1795! Over 6.5 days 6 friends traveled in a rented narrowboat 58 miles through 38 locks.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (Welsh pronunciation: [ˌpɔntkəˈsəɬtɛ], full name in Welsh: Traphont Ddŵr Pontcysyllte) is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee in Wrexham County Borough in north east Wales. Completed in 1805, it is the longest and highest aqueduct in Great Britain, a Grade I Listed Building[1] and a World Heritage Site.
When the bridge was built, it linked the villages of Froncysyllte, at the southern end of the bridge in the Cysyllte township of Llangollen parish (from where it takes its name[2]), and Trevor (Trefor in Welsh), at the northern end of the bridge in the Trefor Isaf township, also of Llangollen parish. Both townships were later transferred to Wrexham County Borough following local government reorganisation.
The name Pontcysyllte is in the Welsh language and means Cysyllte Bridge.[2] The township of Cysyllte existed for centuries before the bridge was built. For most of its history, the aqueduct was known as Pont y Cysyllte (Bridge of Cysyllte). Other translations such as Bridge of the Junction or The Bridge that links are modern, and incorrect, derived from the literal English translation of cysyllte as junctions or links.
