Paper predators and prey spring to life in this visually stunning short from directors Dávid Ringeisen & László Ruska. An ordinary desk and typical office supplies are the backdrop for this micro-universe that carries the macro-message of wildlife conservation. While humans are left out of the piece, their impact is still present in a discarded cigarette butt that sparks an imaginary forest fire and an overflowing wastebasket that pollutes a fantastical rolling-chair river. This piece is part of the filmmakers' MOME thesis project, the animation department at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, Hungary and was created for WWF Hungary.

在名古屋南面的知多市沿海，有一棟不到70㎡的小房子。這棟小型住宅分別由「大海之家」、「庭院之家」和「太陽之塔」組成，66㎡有4層樓，2分鐘就能走到海邊。家裡有喜歡衝浪的爸爸、愛種花的媽媽和兩個可愛的小朋友，一家四口雖然各自做著事情，但也能感受到彼此。
At the seaside of Chita city, south to Nagoya, there stands a small house covering less than 70 square meters. It is composed of three buildings, the “Sea House”, the “Garden House”, and the “Sun Tower”, 4 storeys in total, and 2 minute walk to the sea. The family members are a father who likes surfing, a mother who likes gardening and two lovely children. Most time they would attend to their own things but they can always feel each other.

Ancient Japanese Buddhist&Shinto sculptures in rare Natabori style.
Blog entry 21th Feb. 2009 ADEYTO presents 1000 years old Japanese Buddhist and Shinto statues sculpted in the rare style called Natabori 鉈彫 = Hatchet carvings.
A type of wooden sculpture characterized by round chisel (nata 鉈) marks that are left on the surface. Natabori are sculpted to the rough-cut (*arabori 荒彫) or fine-cut (kozukuri 小造り) stage without undergoing the finishing (shiage 仕上げ) process.
For this reason, one school of thought claims that natabori are unfinished, incompleted works, while another claims that they constitute a specific sculptural style. However, since natabori have been found within a specific region and dated to a specific period only, they are now more often considered to be completed works in their own right.
Natabori are found primarily in the Kantou 関東 region in an area of eastern Japan extending from the Chita 知多 Peninsula, Aichi prefecture in the west, to Iwate prefecture in the north, and date from the 10-13c. In western Japan sculpture with natabori features have been found, but these features only appear on a part of the sculpture, and do seem to incomplete works.
Natabori are usually made from hardwood such as the Judas tree (katsura 桂) or the zelkowa (keyaki 欅). Neither painted nor lacquered, their rough surface gives a sense of simplicity and directness.
The oldest extant example is the Yakushi Triad, Yakushi sansonzou 薬師三尊像 of Houjoubou 宝城坊, Kanagawa prefecture, which is thought to have been made in the 10c. Other examples include the Eleven-headed Kannon, Juuichimen Kannon 十一面観音 in Gumyouji 弘明寺, Kanagawa prefecture and the Shou Kannon 聖観音 in Tendaiji 天台寺, Iwate prefecture.
Atsuhiko Misawa is one of the most remarkable contemporary sculptors working today known for the wooden life-sized natabori style sculptures of animals, which are lively and humorous.
After studying sculpture at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Misawa has since exhibited his Animals series from 2000 onward. Awarded several prizes several times in the past, his creative activities have been justly recognized.
The most prominent characteristics of Misawa's work are its scale and modes of expression. While his almost life-size animals are created through traditional methods with which traces of the chisel are visible, their free-minded looks and unique expressions instantly win the hearts and minds of viewers.

[Cycling Japan] Long Ride To The Beach in Hot Japanese Summer (160km)
Today on our Cycling in Japan series, my wife and I will be ridding the Chita Peninsula loop, which is one of the more popular rides in Aichi prefecture. We're riding our road bikes, but are also joined by another cyclist on their bikepacking bike. In total we ended up with 160km for today's ride, going all the way down to Minami Chita city and back to Nagoya.
We also had a nice surprise during the ride, coming across the giant Tokonyan cat statue in Chita city.
All in all, it was another great ride. The weather was extremely hot and humid, and the giant hills on the way home were tough, but it made the food reward at the end taste even better :)

Atsuta Shrine stands in a lovely, wooded park in southern Nagoya. During the Meiji Period, the shrine was remodeled after the Ise Shrines in the purely Japanese Shinmei-zukuri architecture style.
After viewing the shrine buildings, I highly recommend trying Kishiemen noodles which is one of Nagoya’s local special foods. A restaurant is found on the shrine grounds.

Take the Meitetsu Nagoya Line from Nagoya Station to Jingumae Station (5 minutes, 230 yen) and 3-minute-walk brings you there.
By subway:
Jingunishi Station on the Subway Meijo Line is a five minute walk from the shrine.
