Presenting you with my another video from Kinnaur - Spiti Road Trip May 2018.
Sangla to Chitkul is just 24 Km but the journey takes over an hour to complete. The reason is narrow and bad roads. But even after all this, the journey is very much enjoyable. If you have missed my earlier video. Here's the link:
Chandigarh to Sangla Valley:
There's are hardly much to stop on the way except the beautiful scenic valley. I have tried my best to capture all for you. Once you reach Chitkul, checkout the beautiful and crystal clear water river Baspa. The beauty is unimaginable.
Chitkul is Himachal's last village in Kinnaur. After Chitkul, theres an ITBP checkpost beyond which no civilian is allowed.
I would like to thank my friend Gaurav for traveling with me all the way.
I will be uploading more of my Kinnaur / Spiti road trip videos soon. Stay tuned. And if you haven't subscribed yet, please subscribe my channel.
Thank you for watching and if you have any questions, please do leave them as comments, I answer all the questions.

Sangla, Chitkul & Kalpa(KINNAUR TOUR)
Sangla Valley starts at Karcham and ends at Chitkul. The valley is surrounded by forested slopes and offers views of the high mountains. Its location in the greater Himalayan range gives it a milder climate than the plains.Sangla Valley is a part of Kinnaur and inhibited by Kinnauris.
Chitkul (Chittkul) is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border. The Indian road ends here. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to lower regions of Himachal.Chitkul, on the banks of Baspa River, is the first village of the Baspa Valley and the last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route. It is also the last point in India one can travel to without a permit.
Kalpa is one of the biggest and beautiful village of Kinnaur district. Kalpa is a famous tourist place in the world, a beautiful view of Kinnaur Kailash (locally known as kinner kailsh) attracts tourists here, there are spectacular sights early in the morning as the rising sun touches the snowy peak with crimson and golden light. Kalpa is surrounded by Deodar, apple, and pinus gerardiana chilghoza trees. In winter all the villages are covered by about 5–7 feet of snow, and the temperature can drop to as low as -20°C, heavy woolens are required even most of time in summer.

Sangla, Switzerland of India | Winter Spiti | Life Under -27° Degree
Traveling is indeed Big Fun, Especially when You go on to see, find and explore a place whose Beauty can Stun You...The Best One would have seen before, In a truest sense can be better than Switzerland! Irony is that we just don't know about such places of India.
On our way to Chitkul from Sangla town, which is 24 km away, we hardly could reach up to 10 km...One just couldn't move further as our Renault Duster was stuck in heavy snow spread all over the road.
We tried all our tricks but it refused to move and we had to return back.
But even this was an inspiring yet exciting experience for 3 Xtreme Idiots, jostling with freezing temperature, shivering yet shoveling around and fighting to make our way through 3 feet snow, such moments won't ever be back.

A walk through CHITKUL , Kinnaur | Last village of India
Chitkul is known as the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibet border. The road doesnt take you till the actual border, it closes around 90 km before it and then rest of the area is under the control of Indian Paramilitary force ITBP.
It is also the last point in India one can travel to without a permit. Chitkul are its houses with either slate or wooden plank roofs, a Buddhist temple and a small tower.
Chitkul is practically the last point of the famous Kinner Kailash Parikrama as one can hitch a hike from here onwards. After one crosses over the 5,242 m high Charang Pass, it is a long and steep run down through slithery scree slopes to Chitkul(3,450m).
Chitkul is around 569 km from the Delhi and 24 km from Sangla.

Places to visit in Sangla and Chitkul, Himachal Pradesh
My first travel vlog!
Day-1 On first day we decided to stay at Narkanda. The google map says that it'll take 5-6 hours to reach Narkanda from Chandigarh but due to traffic it takes a little more time to reach there.
Day-2 We left Narkanda around 9 in the morning and had breakfast on our way to Sangla. And the distance between Narkanda and Sangla is 160km which actually took us around 5-6 hours to cover the distance. Sangla valley is surrounded by forested slope and offers views of high mountains.
Day-3 Sangla to Chitkul is just 24km away but the roads are very narrow. So eventually it took us an hour to complete the journey. On third day we went to chitkul directly and witnessed India's last village . We had a wonderful time at river baspa. Later on we decided to go to kamru fort and Bering Nag Temple on our way back to Sangla.
Day-4 We saw Bhimakali Temple in Sarahan. The weather in Sarahan was bit hot as compared to Sangla and Chitkul. On this day we stayed at Sangla only.
Day-5 This was our last day. And we were heading back home. But we chose to visit one more tourist spot that was Tani Jubber Lake. And that was the perfect ending to this trip. The view was so mesmerizing that it didn't even looked like India. And we reached home at 9pm.
Overall the experience was amazing in this beautiful place. I hope you all liked the video.
And a big thanks to my cousins for motivating me to upload these videos on YouTube.

Last Village of India - Chitkul | Sangla-Chitkul | Chitkul India Chaina Border
Chitkul (Chittkul) is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border. The Indian road ends here. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to lower regions of Himachal. Potatoes grown at Chittkul are one of the best in the world and are very costly
Chitkul is around 569 km from the National capital Delhi and 28 km from Sangla. This is the last Indian village on border with China. The road doesn't take you till the actual border, it closes around 90 km before it and then rest of the area is under the control of Indian Paramilitary force ITBP. There are wooden houses turned into hotels that can be found in Chhitkul, these hotels are a bit expensive and most of the tourist prefer to stay at Sangla and make a day trip to this place. Sangla is close to Chhitkul and hotels and camps provide very good arrangement for living and are comparatively cheaper. While in Chhitkul make sure you carry adequate cash and petrol or diesel for your car as there is no ATM facility or fuel stations in this hilly area. There is also neither a clinic nor any hospital in this area and one has to travel back to Sangla for emergencies. Chitkul is very cold and windy and the road normally closes down around November after the first snowfall.
There are HRTC buses from Sangla to Chitkul on regular interval. Those buses will back to Sangla after 30 Minutes halt at Chitkul. Last bus to Sangla is around 3:30 PM .
Sangla To Chitkul - Kinnaur - Unforgettable Himachal Pradesh - Incredible India
We have completed our lunch at Sangla. Now we are going to Chitkul. The road condition is not good. But the scenic beauty is awesome. The Baspa river is on our right. The road is moving along the river but at higher altitude. So when we are looking down we can see the spectacular Sangla valley. On the other side of the river are snow clad mountains. The whole terrain is full of apple orchards.
