Wanzhou, Wanxian, Chongqing - China Travel Channel
Wanzhou (万州区), formerly called Wanxian, was built from scratch and is a district of Chongqing with 1.7 million inhabitants today. We had the opportunity to visit the home of a retired factory employee. The large roof garden suggests that he is more likely to be among the more privileged residents.
In the video you see older women who practice Tai Chi on the road. Developed as a martial arts, the name Tai Chi is used today as expression for the gymnastics, that serves for meditation and strengthening health. A typical Chinese market offers all daily food necessities, such as meat, fresh vegetables and cooking ingredients listed.
In the local museum, old hanging coffins from two millennia are displayed belonging to the descendants of the Tujia nationality (土家族) with a population of 8.3 million. We saw some hanging coffins of the Tuja already in the valley of the Shennong River. A coffin weights approx. 400 kg and was always built for 2 persons. From the genetic examinations of the decedents one knows that it was usual to give a young man a slightly older woman as a companion. The women showed holes in their head, so one can emanate a violent death. Two models also show the methods as the coffins were brought to the vertical walls.
The steep steps to the ship's landing -- simultaneously a washing place for laundry , or beating the laundry as the Chinese say, show us for a very brief time the true level of the river.

Schatzkammerberg, Dazu, Chongqing - China Travel Channel
62 miles west of Chongqing you can visit the Dazu Rock Carvings In the hillsides around the city of Dazu 50 000 statues were carved in the rocks. Most are located on the North Hill and the Treasure Chest Mountain - Baoding Shan. The Treasure Chest Mountain, 6.3 miles northeast of Dazu, is the second most important mountain for Buddhists in China. Baoding Shan with its 10,000 sculptures has become a bible written in stone for the Buddhists.
Most of these statues were made in the 11th and 12th Century. The statues show the Buddhist deities. They also show many examples of actions and their various punishments after death. Punishment can be avoided if you live a devout life and enter into Nirvana.
Next to the sleeping Buddha, with a length of 98 ft, is Guanyin (觀音 - 观音) the God of Mercy with 1000 hands and 1000 eyes. It is the best known statue and appeared earlier in the form of a man and later in the form of a woman, as seen here during the Song Dynasty.
Since 1999, the rock sculptures of Dazu are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

100 km westlich von Chongqing befindet sich die Felsskulpturen von Dazu - 大足石刻.

Wanzhou, Market, Chongqing - China Travel Channel
Although Wanzhou, a district of Chongqing, was built from scratch as part of the Three Gorges Dam project, the residents still live to some extent in their old traditions. The best way to experience this is on a typical Chinese market. All aspects of daily life, such as meat, fish, fresh vegetables, cooking ingredients, as well as household goods, textiles and clothing are offered.
As one can see in the video, the Chinese parents proudly present their children in front of the camera.
You can see Bang Bangs - as the Chinese coolies, with their typical cross-bars of bamboo on her back, are called in Sichuan and Chongqing - pushing through the throngs of people over again. The Bang Bangs constantly provide the merchants with fresh supply, thus ensuring enough products on offer.

Ciqikou of Chongqing china
Ciqikou (Chinese: 磁器口; pinyin: Cíqìkǒu; literally: 'Porcelain Port') is an ancient town in the Shapingba District of Chongqing Municipality, People's Republic of China.[1] It was originally called Longyinzhen (simplified Chinese: 龙隐镇; traditional Chinese: 龍隱鎮; pinyin: Lóngyǐnzhèn) and was also known as Little Chongqing.
According to an old Chinese proverb: One flagstone road, and one thousand years' Ciqikou.[citation needed] The name of the town can be traced back to porcelain production during the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing Dynasties.[2] Formerly a busy port located at the lower reaches of the Jialing River, a thousand years after its foundation the town remains a symbol and microcosm of old Chongqing (Jiang Zhou).

This film begins at Maoping. This town is located on the right (southern) bank of the Yangtze, just upstream of the Three Gorges Dam, and offers a good view of (the upstream side of) the dam, as well as of an accessory dam, which blocks off a valley on the southern side of the river from being flooded by the reservoir.
