Nikolai Vuković - A Biography
Nikolai Vuković is a self-taught pianist, composer, concert piano tuner and concert harpsichord tuner. He was born in Malta on the 2nd of April, 1978 to a musical family. Nikolai too showed a natural inclination to music but it was only at the age of ten that his grandmother, the late Hilda Vuković, a soprano and pianist, gave him the opportunity to study piano. Being a very exacting person, she taught Nikolai the basics in his piano studies, but, due to the irregularity of lessons, after less than a year he went in search of another piano teacher. Remarkably, in only his first year of playing the piano, Nikolai composed his very first piece - a tango in C major in ternary form with a C minor middle section.
Nikolai moved on to another piano teacher but the lessons were not successful and he decided to teach himself. He would spend countless hours at the piano, trying to figure out for himself the answers to the endless and mind-boggling questions regarding the interpretation of music and piano technique. Against all odds, it is in this long period that Nikolai learnt a major part of his repertoire and thoroughly absorbed the language of music: harmony, melody and form, just as a newborn absorbs a language solely through listening to its parents.
In 2009, Nikolai met Dr Ibrahim Souss who was to become his greatest musical inspiration. Dr Souss was a highly-regarded concert pianist, who studied at the École Normal de Music in Paris with the founder -- the legendary concert pianist Alfred Cortot, amongst other greats. Dr Souss shared a lot of knowledge and skill that had been passed onto him by the great Cortot, with Nikolai. The Prelude and Concert Study, Opus 2 are dedicated to Dr Souss.
In 2010, 2011 and 2013, Nikolai took masterclasses with concert pianist Prof. Yuri Didenko, professor at the Moscow State Conservatory and a pupil of the great Victor Merzhanov; and with Prof. Vasily Shcherbakov also from the Moscow State Conservatory, and nephew of the great composer, Dmitry Kabalevsky. Throughout his career, Nikolai has befriended some of the foremost local musicians and music educators, including pianist, Sofia Narmania; music psychologist and educator, Lynne Fenech; and Australian concert pianist, Robert Weatherburn to whom the Three Waltzes, Opus 3 are dedicated. These and others significantly helped to mould Nikolai and make him into the artist he is today.
Nikolai has also taught himself piano tuning and servicing. He has been tuning and servicing pianos for the past eighteen years and his ever-growing experience, skill, unmatched meticulousness and unrelenting urge to learn has made him one of Malta's leading piano and harpsichord tuner and technicians. He is also the resident tuner at Teatru Manoel - the national theatre of Malta, and tunes pianos and harpsichords for many local and world-known artists at international events and concerts.
Today, Nikolai continues to add to his many compositions. His style evidently does not evolve from the modernism of the 20th century and his 21st century contemporaries, but has been likened to that of late-Chopin, Liszt and early Scriabin. His music is instilled primarily with a Russian sensibility whilst the influence of Romantic and Impressionistic composers is also to be noted.

Royal Chamber Orchestra - Krakow
Krakow's fondness for music is easily evidenced in the number of street musicians, folk singers and folk dancers throughout the city. Krakow is also a classical music city. After all, Chopin was Polish and his many compositions delighted those of his era and continue to do so at present. Chamber music is very accessible in Krakow and there are regular performances to be found. One of which is the Royal Chamber Orchestra which gives daily performances at (where else?) The Chopin Gallery. Their program includes a wide range of classical compositions by various composers, but will also incorporate interesting arrangements of more popular contemporary music. In this clip, the Royal Chamber Orchestra plays a Chopin Waltz.

Unveiling of Tony Johansen Painting 600 Year Old Song By Polish Consul General
This new painting The 600 Year Old Song, in Polish 600-letnia pieśń, was painted by Tony Johansen. It was commissioned for the new home for the Warmińsko-Mazurska Filharmonia im. Felixa Nowowiejskiego, a new Music Hall opening in March in Olsztyn, Poland. The Philharmonic Orchestra wanted their Concert Hall to be decorated with a permanent display of artwork from significant artists from all over the world. Tony Johansen was invited by the Marshal of Warmia-Mazury, Jacek Protas, to represent Australia in this World Art Exhibition.
The painting was unveiled in Sydney on the 9th February 2011 by the Consul General Of The Republic Of Poland Daniel Gromann prior to its dispatch to Poland. This video shows the official unveiling ceremony which is followed by images of the painting.
Background music is Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor, Nico Snel conducting the Seattle Philharmonic with Neal O'Doan. This recording is available Creative Commons Open Audio License and is free to share and adapt with attribution.
The painting gives the impression the viewer is looking through the eyes of one of the violinists in the Philharmonic Orchestra. Feliks Nowowiejski is conducting and the orchestra is playing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2. It is the last movement just before the finale. The whole landscape and world are drawn from the music. The clouds are born in the bow strings of the violins and envelop the piano. The Ordenberg Castle in the center of Olsztyn rises behind the conductor. This is where Copernicus lived. While there he worked out his theory that the earth revolves around the sun. The audience blends into the forest, and the forest blends into the clouds. This symbolizes how in Olsztyn, the people, their culture, their city, and their heritage, are indivisible.
Tony Johansen, who signs his paintings TonyJohansen.com is known as a painter of theatrical color and movement. Musicians are among his favorite subjects. His passion for this painting lead him to grow his hair long like the composer and conductor in the painting, Nowowiejski. While his hair is not so white as that of the conductor, the artist found he was able to gain a feeling for Nowowiejski's passion for music. He comes alive in this painting and lives in the hearts of all who enjoy both this painting and the music of the philharmonic orchestra that is inspired by him.

Frederic Chopin's 200th Birthday Party Concert - Ad / Reklama
Frederic Chopin's 200th Birthday Party - A Polish Jazz Celebration to cykl koncertów/spektakli muzycznych organizowanych w najbardziej prestiżowych salach koncertowych w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki Północnej: Carnegie Hall (New York), Orchestra Center (Chicago), itp.
Dopełnieniem muzycznej warstwy spektaklu będzie specjalnie przygotowana plastyczna wizualizacja inspiracji osobą i twórczością Chopina.
Projekt plakat przygotowala znakomita młoda artystka Justyna Czerniakowska (asystentka w ASP).
