Amorgos Town or Chora is the medieval capital of the island and is built at an altitude of 300 meters and around the rock of the Venetian castle. It is 5 km from Katapola port and impresses visitors with its picturesque and well-preserved architecture. The medieval settlement with exceptionally preserved old houses handed down from generation to generation, keep the history of the place alive. Traditional cobbled streets lead into small squares and dozens of Byzantine churches. Still present in Chora are three towers, all from different time periods, confirming the timeless noble, mysterious and romantic side of Amorgos.

Bonjour les amis voyageurs.
On vous retrouve cette semaine, avec une nouvelle vidéo.
Durant le séjour de Pascal dans les Cyclades, il a fait étape sur l'île la plus orientale des Cyclades : Amorgos.

Cette île est moin connue et donc moins propice au tourisme de masse. Du coup tu y retrouves une île avec des espaces naturels et préservés. Tu pourras y rencontrer les locaux chaleureux.
Dans cette vidéo nous te présentons le village de pêcheurs de Katapola, mais aussi la capitale de l'ile Chora. Egalement un lieu extraordinaire le monastère de Panagia Chozoviotissa et enfin l'épave Olympia.

Short Impression - Chora Amorgos Town

Amorgos town (Chora). Amorgos town is the capital of the Greek island of Amorgos. It is centrally located on the island, around a high rock that is home to a Venetian Castle. This castle was originally built to protect against pirates. The inhabitants built the village in a place that could not be seen from the sea. In the Middle Ages they called the town, Kastro (castle).

Amorgos town is located five kilometers (3 mi) east of the port of Katapola. The route from Katapola to Amorgos town is magnificent. It is a typical Cycladic town or rather a Cycladic village, because it is not so large, with only 400 permanent residents. In the village, which is built on the slopes of a hill, you see typical white houses and windmills. There are two village squares and many narrow alleyways. There are several traditional taverns, cafes and bars in Chora, as the Greeks call this village.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go to the beautiful Greek island of Amorgos and let's visit the medieval neighborhood of Chora (the ancient capital of the island) which is the entryway to the windmills, which circle the hills above Chora. Some of the well-preserved windmills still contain the mechanisms used by the millers to process the flour. Several of the windmills are easily accessible, while others require a demanding ascent not recommended on windy days. On hot, windless summer days, this location is the ideal place to watch the sunset, with the sun dropping into the sea and the silhouettes of the windmills taking on purple and orange hues.
Amorgos is the easternmost island of the Cyclades island group and the nearest island to the neighbouring Dodecanese island group in Greece.
