Living in Japan for 2 Years! [2019]
We're celebrating our 2nd Japaniversary! John Mark shows you what his two years were like with a really long, PAINSTAKINGLY produced slideshow. Just kidding.
It's just a bunch of photos of our last 2 years that go by super fast.
The first 40 or so were taking on a Nokia/Microsoft Lumia 950 (RIP) and the rest were taken using either the native color or the native monochrome camera of his Huawei Mate 9.
Please enjoy this almost hyperlapse of Japan life. Or timelapse of living in Japan? Japanlapse of time photos?
Let me know if you're wondering what a certain photo is! Maybe I'll remember.
Otherwise, you'll basically see what John Mark decides to photograph, sometimes it's art (the photograph or the subject matter), sometimes it's a cloud (often it's a cloud), and usually Kate is nearby.

6 Weeks Living In Japan (Good & Bad)
In this video I talk about my first 6 weeks in Fukuoka, Japan. I talk about life living in a share house, practicing jiu-jitsu, learning Japanese, how clean it is, politeness, repression, order, chaos, work ethic, etc.
Living in a sharehouse 01:24
Jiu-jitsu 03:57
Learning Japanese 05:19
Cool things about Japan 06:05
The dark side of cool 06:54
My rent & wimpy wood houses 09:45
Politeness and the dark side 11:30
Hardworking/workaholics 14:05
There is a glitch in the video around 2/3 of the way through out. The sound is o.k, but the visual stops playing for a couple of minutes.
Japan is a great place, but there is a dark side to the coin and I explore some of those things in this video.

MY YEAR LIVING IN JAPAN!!! The most extraordinary experience (2017-2018)
A Japanese monk once told me that living is all about good experiences and bad experiences, after an accomplishment will always come a failure and after the failure will always come a success story. I strongly believe in this, and this year was an example of it. And even though this was the hardest time in my whole life, it was also the most beautiful and the happiest. This was the year I grew the most. Here is the story: After a week of my arrival in Japan I withdrew my fortune in a very famous temple in Asakusa and it was the worst fortune: Go back to your country, be careful of your health and it's not a good time to start something new... I was shock! so I wrap my fortune in the temple so that the bad fortune wouldn't follow me. In about two more months I broke my ankle during soccer class and had to be in a wheelchair for almost 4 months. After 4 months I was able to stand a little again BUT I got a serious kidney infection and had to stay in a hospital for a week. Yet I believe that even this time was a blessing. During this time in bed my ankle was able to recover even faster. All the hospital visits, all the favors that I needed to ask, all the pain physically and mentally, and specially all the hugs that I needed from my parents made this time a very hard one for me, YET I was able to strengthen the bonds with my new friends in Japan, that now I call family, I was able to have a host family that treated me as their child and help me have the best weekend of my life, I was able to notice what a great and supporting boyfriend I had and I was able to know that I wasn't alone. I was able to finally say that this year I feel different! I feel that I have matured and that life has even more meaning! People sometimes take for granted the pleasure of going out, explore, meet new people and just breathe and feel alive. People sometimes take for granted the happiness of small things like a sleeping position or a hot bath or just the joy of opening your own door. People sometimes take for granted the pleasure of walking and finally feeling that solid ground that gives you all the support that you need. I used to take for granted running, breathing, feeling alive. Ironically, while living in a wheelchair in a foreign country for about four months I felt the most alive I have ever been. The reality of not being able to do many things made me realized that the little things that I could do or accomplish everyday were my force to be more alive. Whenever I could take the train, whenever I could still go to class, whenever I could clean my apartment or whenever I could just enjoy the sunshine or the rain, whenever I could still be me that was still happiness. I had my last appointment with the doctor on November 2017 and in December I went back to the same Asakusa temple and withdrew my fortune again. GOOD LUCK! Everything that you wish will be granted :') Thank you Japan for making me stronger and thank you for your amazing system for the disabled! I want to thank all my friends and family that made that year the best of my life! Thank you to all my Japanese friends and my foreign friends that always support me and became my family! thank you to my host family and to my boyfriend and his family because you all made me feel like home. Thank you for all the opportunities: Internships, work and new experiences! Thank you to all the wonderful new teachers that I got the pleasure to meet and THANK YOU TO MY PARENTS BECAUSE WITHOUT THEM I WOULDN'T EVEN BE HALF OF THE PERSON I'M TODAY! And wouldn't even had the chance to live there for a year! Thank you everyone that helped me during this long journey! Love you all!!
Gracias a todos por amarme y quererme! 日本ありがとうね!!!!Here is a little video of my year in Japan :')
