Hyperlapse - First ever attempt (Cathedral in Stanley, Falkland Islands)
My first ever attempt at hyperlapse using Christ Church Cathedral in Stanley, Falkland Islands as a feature. Turned out okay and I learned a lot from this one experiment.
Port Howard 150th Celebrations
Port Howard is the largest settlement on West Falkland. In October, residents from around the islands (and the globe!) celebrated 150 years since its establishment. Today, we're looking back at the event and thought you'd enjoy it too!

51º South: Sentinel of the South [Falkland Islands]
No.3 Sentinel of the South
Richard Hines is the Rector of Christ Church Cathedral in Stanley. Richard's pastoral charge not only encompasses the Falkland Islands but also that of South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands, and the British Antarctic Territory. Someone has calculated that it is the largest Anglican parish in the world... with a congregation, however, that fluctuates between 10 -- 50 people. With a shared history in both Argentina and the United Kingdom, Richard's admiration for the Falkland Islanders has taken him full circle as he now offers himself as a valuable and diverse resource to the Island's community.

We Sing To Him Noel (Stanley Cathedral Falkland Islands)
Here's a new carol. Written in about 1970 and sung only once before . The words were written by Ian Dagnall (Ian - if you see this then drop me a line) and I wrote the tune - we entered a competition and we won ! I sort of lost it and then found it recently in some old stuff. To cut a long story short, the harmonies were re-written by Wendy Reynolds and then the community choir in Stanley in the Falklands sang it last week at our carol service..many thanks to all of the choir and especially to Devni for the fantastic solo.
Many thanks go to FITV (Falkland Islands Television) for the filming, Wendy and Shirley for all of the rehearsals, Paul and the recorders for playing it for us, Carol Hawkins for writing out the score, Rev Kathy Biles for liking it and of course a huge thanks to all in the community choir for singing it so well.
Hope you like it and a very happy and very merry Christmas to one and all !!

The Parish of the Falkland Islands is an extra-provincial church in the Anglican Communion. In 1869, the Diocese of the Falkland Isles with jurisdiction over the rest of South America excepting British Guyana was established. The name was due to a legal technicality: at that time there was no way an English bishop could be consecrated for areas outside the jurisdiction of the Crown. From the start, the bishop resided in Buenos Aires and had his administrative office there.

Carols under the Whalebone Arch - Stanley, Falkland Islands (short selection)
On Christmas Eve, it is still light at 6pm in the Falkland Islands when people gather under the Whalebone Arch in Stanley to sing carols and, in recent years, also to hear singers from the Zimbabwean community - many of them are deminers, here to clear mines left by Argentinian forces during the 1982 War.
Enjoy a short selection from Christmas Eve 2018 ...
