Cascade Falls | near Christina Lake and Grand Forks BC | 4K
Here's some more footage of my vacation in the Christina Lake area. Cascade Falls can be easily accessed off the highway no more than a 10 minute drive out of Christina Lake. It's a gorgeous spot to visit for a quick day trip. It took me maybe 15 mins to walk in.
It's still in natural shape, and thankfully no railings or boardwalk; so be careful not to fall in!

Christina Lake - Deer Point Trail to Xenia Lake - Gladstone Provincial Park
On May 21, 2019 I was staying at the Texas Creek Campground on Christina Lake. I still like to get in my exercise on vacation, so what better way than make an attempt for Xenia Lake in Gladstone Provincial Park.
The Deer Point Trail to the end of Christina Lake is well maintained, with not too much overgrowth. After you leave the Troy Creek Campground at the north end of the lake however, the trail rapidly deteriorates. Lots of overgrowth, fallen trees, and some difficulty following markers in a couple spots.
Doing this trip in a day is only for those with marathon endurance. My totals at the end of the day were 36.1km, 2000m~? elevation gain (it felt more like 1000m~, not sure what went wrong with my garmin gps here), and 12 hours 40 minutes. 4 ticks were killed in the making of this film ;)

#486 Christina Lake, Hitching To New Denver
Sarah's Diary: New Denver
We stayed in New Denver on Wednesday night. Thank you to all the kind people who picked us up.
New Denver is such a beautiful place. No big hotels, fast food etc. Some people want it to stay that way, so they told us to tell everyone the name of the lake is Christina Lake.

British Columbia's Hick's Lake Trout Fishing
There’s and endless amount of trout fishing opportunities available in Southern British Columbia, but it might be a stretch to find a lake more productive than Hicks Lake in Sasquatch Provincial Park. Roughly two hours from Vancouver, the lake is stocked with 1,500 catchable size rainbows by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and it’s fishing well. It's a beautiful mountain lake that's easy to reach and ideal for a family fishing trip or a day trip with buddies. We fished exclusively with Pautzke Balls O Fire salmon eggs and caught and endless amount of trout as you'll see in this edition of Pautzke Outdoors.

Feral pigs run rampant in Christina Lake BC - TMTV
TMTV FOR GLOBAL TV --- CHRISTINA LAKE, B.C. — A herd of 25 to 30 feral pigs is tearing up backyards and scaring locals and tourists near Christina Lake.
Nothing about them is very pleasant. There's emails going back and forth from people who are concerned that they could get confrontational and aggressive, said Grace McGregor, regional district director for the area, which is near the U.S. border. I'm very concerned about people out walking and hiking. I certainly don't want anything happening to anyone.
The pigs are believed to have escaped from a farm in the area a few years ago.
What concerns me is that they have two litters each year, and they don't just have one piglet, they have several, McGregor said. It's very dangerous as far as I'm concerned. They're big. They grow very large tusks and can grow up to 200 pounds.
Tourism is an important economic driver in the Christina Lake area, which is known for its hiking trails.
Christina Lake BC to Trail (part 1) Road Trip - YouTube
Beautiful British Columbia, but only if we stand up for it in the face of corporate greed.
The Trail, B.C., smelter's record of dumping millions of tons of contaminated slag has been known for years.
An October 1981 memo from British Columbia's Ministry of the Environment describes extensive mercury releases from the Teck Cominco Ltd. smelter six miles north of the border with Washington. The memo and dozens of other documents on the big lead and zinc smelter were obtained under British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Large amounts of mercury -- approximately 20 pounds a day -- have been deposited in the Columbia over many years by Cominco, the 1981 Canadian memo says. Calculations based on the two Canadian estimates show that between 1.6 tons and 3.6 tons of mercury were discharged to the river each year since the 1940s,.
Mercury is a highly toxic metal that can be inhaled, ingested or absorbed through the skin. It builds up in the tissues of fish. In sufficient doses, it can cause neurological damage to the developing brain of the human fetus, and it builds up in the breast milk of nursing mothers.
