SUMMARY
=======
The Jewish immigration to Puerto Rico began in the 15th century with the arrival of the anusim (variously called conversos, Crypto-Jews, Secret Jews or marranos) who accompanied Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. An open Jewish community did not flourish in the colony because Judaism was prohibited by the Spanish Inquisition. However, many migrated to mountainous parts of the island, far from the central power of San Juan, and continued to self-identify as Jews and practice Crypto-Judaism.
It would be hundreds of years before an open Jewish community was established on the island. Very few American Jews settled in Puerto Rico after it was ceded by Spain to the United States under the terms of the 1898 Treaty of Paris, which ended the Spanish–American War.
The first large group of Jews to settle in Puerto Rico were refugees fleeing German–occupied Europe in the 1930s and 1940s. The second influx came in the 1950s, when thousands of Cuban Jews (most of Eastern-European descent) fled after Fidel Castro came to power. The majority immigrated to Miami, Florida, but a sizable portion chose to establish and integrate themselves on the neighboring island because of Puerto Rico's cultural, linguistic, racial, and historic similarities to Cuba.
Puerto Rican Jews have made many contributions in multiple fields, including business, commerce, education, and entertainment. Puerto Rico has the largest and richest Jewish community in the Caribbean, with over 3,000 Jewish inhabitants. It is also the only Caribbean island in which all three major Jewish denominations—Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform—are represented.

GOING BACK HOME!!! - PUERTO RICO TRIP MONTAGE
CHECK OUT MY LAST VIDEO:
What's up everyone! I actually wanted to upload this video last week since it was the last video that I had from my trip in Puerto Rico but since it was Halloween last week I decided to give you a video of something that had to do with that, so i saved this video for today. These videos that were pieced together were recorded with my phones camera. I didn't have a lot of footage since the quality isn't the best so I just took what I had and made a little montage. I also made sure that I recorded the ride to the airport and the flight back home, so I would have the perfect way to show you all the end of my trip at Puerto Rico. Although this video wasn't much, it means a lot to me because I know I can always look back at some of the things I seen and did while I was there. I really hope you all enjoyed my other videos from my trip as well as this one and hopefully I will be going back again soon. As always if you enjoyed this video don't forget to hit that like button and please subscribe if you haven't already. Thank you for watching!

Puerto Rico - San Juan
These are from summer 2008, when I was working at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez. I spent some time in San Juan before my work began, and unfortunately I did not see it much after that because it was so far away (is that possible in Puerto Rico?). Puerto Rico is a beautiful island, and it is full of much more than beaches, which I get bored with fairly quickly. Delicious food, mango season, and Spanglish! For all of those words that I do not know in Spanish, I can say them with Spanish pronunciation and I am understood.
The song is Pa' Mayte by Carlos Vives.

Parque Colon in Arecibo, Puerto Rico Day 8 - Part 2
Today I visit Parque Colon which is in Arecibo. Then we stop by my childhood home where I lived with my grandmother for a little over a year. That is in San Sebastian. And finally we return to Las Marias where there are some political activities.
