A Day in Seocheon - Beach with me in Korea!
We spent the day in Seocheon, South Korea!
We went to the same beach the previous year and had such a great time that we just had to go back! Last year, we stayed at the beach until late at night. We started seeing little flashes a few hundred meters off shore. Being the curious couple we are, we had to figure out where they were coming from! So we started to head towards what we thought was the water. We kept walking...and walking...and walking...until we finally reached the water. We saw whole families in the water together, sporting buckets and flashlights. We realized that they were taking advantage of the low tide to go clamming! We wanted to clam too, because it looked like so much fun! So we ran back to shore, grabbed a plastic bag and our phones (to use as flashlights) and hurried back to the shore. We ended up clamming with this small family. When our plastic bag was full, we realized that we were sleeping in a hotel, and had nothing to do with all of these clams. So we gave them all to the family who we had tagged along with and headed home. We decided, then and there, that the next year we would come back to the beach and clam again. This time, we would keep the clams and make dinner for ourselves! And so we did ^^
After realizing that we forgot to bring a beach tent, and deciding that the beach umbrellas for rent were way to expensive, we crafted our own out of stuff we had in the pension room and things we had brought from home.
Dinner was way more delicious than I expected. We slept really well and waited for the bus the next day. After a while of waiting we finally started our way home.
The trip was awesome!
Remember, Seocheon is a muddier beach. It's great to play in because the water is warm, but the water is murkier than some other beaches. It's great for clamming too, as there is an abundance of clams in the mud! You can rent beach umbrellas and tubes at the beach. We rented a smaller tube for 5,000 KRW. The adult sizes can range from 8,000 to 15,000 KRW.
Hope you enjoy this week's vlog!
