SFSA 2016 - Science on the Street - Church Square, Pretoria, South Africa
Science on the Street is a Science Forum South Africa (SFSA) 2016 outreach programme that gives role players in the national system of innovation the opportunity to reach out to ordinary citizens in order to showcase the role that science plays in people’s day-to-day lives. The outreach programme further presents ordinary citizens with an opportunity to interact with scientists in order to understand the scientific phenomena in their environment. This interaction contributes to people’s understanding of scientific issues and the role of science in sustainable livelihoods.
Science on the Street took place on 8 and 9 December 2016 in Church Square, Pretoria. Exhibitors from science centres, science councils, universities, government departments and the private sector showed South Africans how their organisations are contributing to improving the quality of life through exciting scientific processes. At least 40 organisations participated in Science on the Street.

Pretoria est une ville d'Afrique australe et la capitale administrative de l'Afrique du Sud. Elle fut également de 1860 à 1902 la capitale de la république sud-africaine du Transvaal. Elle est située aujourd'hui dans la province du Gauteng.
Son surnom est la ville des Jacarandas en référence aux centaines de milliers d'arbres qui fleurissent lors du printemps austral et donnent une teinture mauve à la ville.
Située à quelque 1 500 m d'altitude, Pretoria fait partie de la municipalité de Tshwane, conurbation qui englobe 13 anciennes structures administratives dont les villes anciennement blanches de Centurion et Pretoria et les anciens townships de Temba ou Hammanskraal.

After confusion regarding the legality of the march to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, hundreds of people are out on the street with banners and placards.
Late on Thursday night the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that the march in Pretoria can go ahead as planned, with police saying they will be out in full force to monitor proceedings.

The Church Square Run - E30
Church Square is the square at the historic centre of the city of Pretoria, South Africa. Several historically and architecturally significant buildings surround the square: the Palace of Justice, the Old Capitol Theatre, the Tudor Chambers, the Ou Raadsaal (Old Council Chamber) and the General Post Office.
This was in the early summer of 2019 just before Autumn. Not exactly the ideal place for a job unless you do it on a Sunday when it is less busy.
I enjoyed this run, I also loved the building surrounding the area... I managed to do a quick unashamedly 2km. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed making it.
