CHURCH AND STATE WINERY
Danica Jeffrey – Church and State Wines
Church and State are right around the corner from deVine wines and spirits.
Frankly, everything is “right around the corner” relatively speaking.
This wonderful vineyard was the dream of former owner Kim Pullen.
Kim was always pushing the wine boundaries in BC. Being one of the first to locate the winery in Saanich but then bringing his grapes from the Okanagan.

BC Winegrowers - The Hatch Winery (West Kelowna)
If you can’t ‘out-fancy’ your neighbours, what is one to do? Collect antique shovels and hatch a series of single-vineyard wines from across the Okanagan Valley might work.
Meet GM Jessie Harnden and winemaker Jason Parkes and learn all about the Black Swift, a bird native to the Okanagan that lays a single egg per year. Single egg, single vineyard, well, you get the picture — The Hatch is an incubator for wine.
Drop by, experience the wine, have a picnic and play some bocce: It's the New Okanagan. ~ Anthony Gismondi
BC Winegrowers - Gray Monk Estate Winery
Where is the Okanagan Valley wine culture today? Notable Vancouver Sun wine writer Anthony Gismondi explores the region in a three day road trip almost covering the 200 km long valley from north near Vernon to the south near Osoyoos.
In this first video, Anthony visits George and Trudy Heiss, the founders of Gray Monk Estate Winery.
The government said their grapes wouldn’t work at the site they’d chosen. Three years later, they came back to crib their notes. 40 years later, they are one of the largest producing wineries in the valley and Pinot Gris is the number one planted varietal in B.C.

BC Winegrowers Inniskillin Okanagan (Oliver)
Inniskillin Okanagan’s Dark Horse Vineyard sits on the Okanagan Valley’s newest, and only official appellation, the Golden Mile Bench. According to winemaker Derek Kontkanen ‘Dark Horse’ is an appropriate moniker for the stony bench that is home to Inniskillin’s Discovery Series program. The series features a number of varietal wines that are atypical to the south Okanagan. Join us as we discuss the process of looking for the perfect match between grape and terroir. And speaking of perfect pairings Derek takes us on a tour the new Inniskillin Okanagan tasting room where we match the basic tastes to a bevy of famed Inniskillin Okanagan icewines.

BC Winegrowers - Lake Breeze Wine Farm (Naramata Bench)
Winemaker Garron Elmes has made every bottle of wine at Lake Breeze since the day it opened 20 years ago. From South Africa to Penticton his arrival coincided with the launch of many small estates along what is now one of the most famous winegrowing benches in British Columbia. Today the winery is a premier producer of pinot blanc and joins a small cadre of producers making exciting pinot noir across the valley. Join us on ‘The Patio at Lake Breeze’ as we discuss the secrets of the Naramata Bench and how they relate to the style of Lake Breeze wines.

Foxtrot 2008 Pinot Noir Okanagan
In this episode I taste Foxtrot 2008 Pinot Noir from the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. We don't get to see and taste many Canadian wines in NZ so this was a real treasure.
If you were to compare to a NZ Pinot Noir then it's more like a wine from the Waipara region.
