casares malaga baños de la hedionda
⚜️Casares is in a dramatic position on the edge of a cliff and is considered to one of the more beautiful pueblos blancos of Malaga - these distinctive white villages which are steadily gaining popularity with tourist anxious to escape the Costa crowds.
⚜️In Casares, the fiestas are wonderfully typical and festive. Each year several are celebrated, including that named after the patron saint, the Virgin del Rosario, which is commemorated during the first week of September and the whole town celebrates with wine and music, as well as dancing the wonderfully distinctive casareno folk dances, which are unique to this region of Andalucia.
⚜️ Every corner holds its own, distinct charm in Casares. This, aside from the sheer wealth of history reflected by the numerous remaining monuments and churches. Prehistoric remains are also here, such as the Iber-Roman fortress of Lacipo or the famous Baths de la Hedioda. The natural beauty of the area is also protected and includes the Sierra Bermeja, Crestallina de Utrera.
⚜️ The story has it that when Julius Caesar visited the area surrounding this small town, he ordered the construction of the village due to the curative properties of the sulphurous and alkaline waters on a skin infection which had plagued him since childhood. He also constructed a magnificent villa here which is today considered a major historic monument. It was in Casares also that the Duke of Arcos forced the surrender of the rebel Moors and in Roman times was sufficiently wealthy community to warrant the construction of the Town Hall.
⚜️ The Emperor of Adriano also passed through Casares en route to Cadiz and in 1885, Blas Infante was born here, a famous lawyer in his time, as well as politician and writer. Although he died during the Spanish Civil War he is still recognised as an important figure in the history of Andalucia and his place of birth is a popular tourist site. The countryside surround Casares is varied and lush. There are the magnificent mountain ranges of the Serrania de Ronda; the close proximity of long sandy beaches and the Rock of Gibraltar all within easy reach and contributing to the region's culture, history and tradition.
⚜️ The villa of Caesar was built around the Arab for, the Castillo Hisa which dates back to the 13th century and sits magnificently on top of the mountain. Today, only its walls and two entrances in the shape of an arch can be appreciated. Surround the building the actual village was built. Some three centuries later, the ruins of the Moorish castle were converted into the Parish Church of La Encarnacion, which still has a strong ecclesiastical presence in the town, together with the Ermita de la Vera Cruz and similar buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.
⚜️ The nerve centre of Casares is the Plaza de España, a community centre and the place where all the principal streets seem to lead. It can be truly stated that every monument seems to have a story to tell, such as the Capuccinos and Santa Catalina which were built between the 16th and 18th centuries and still remain as fascinating tributes to the history of the town.

Andalusia (Spanish-arabic: Andalucía) is an autonomous community of Spain. Andalusia is the most populous and the second largest, in terms of its land area, of the seventeen autonomous communities of the Kingdom of Spain. Its capital is Seville.
Andalusia is located south of the autonomous communities of Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha; west of the autonomous community of Murcia and the Mediterranean Sea; east of Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean; and north of the Mediterranean Sea, the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates Spain from Morocco, and the Atlantic Ocean.
-----------------------------------
SETENIL DE LAS BODEGAS:
Remains of the Arab fortress (castillo fortaleza) 12th and 13th centuries; part of the keep still stands.
La Encarnacion Church (Iglesia de la Encarnación), Renaissance Gothic style, 16th century.
Town Hall (Ayuntamiento), 16th century; inside is some interesting Mudejar panelling.
Places of Interest
The village is unique in appearance, with many of its houses built in gorges cut into the rock by the River Guadalporcun.
--------------------------------
The municipal AREA is located in the north east of the province, in the continuation of the Ronda Valley, and its landscape comprises gently undulating fields of cereals and olive trees, across which the River Guadalporcun flows.
The village stands on a slope which cascades down from the Castle alongside the river. Its main attraction lies in the beauty and originality of its streets, particularly in the lower part, where the houses, in the manner of semi-troglodytic dwellings, take advantage of the shelter of the rocks in the gorge created by the river. Also of interest are the fortress and La Encarnacion Church.

Places to see in ( Montefrio - Spain )
Montefrio is a municipality in the province of Granada. The ruins of a Moorish castle sit near the highest point. Being built midway between the Sierra de Priego and Sierra Parapanda, and commanding the open valley between these ranges, Montefrio became one of the chief frontier fortresses of the Moors in the 15th century.
The climate of Montefrío is a continental Mediterranean type. The economy is typically agrarian, with olives as the main crop. The relatively limited industry revolves around agricultural processing such as oil and dairy products. Near Montefrio is a vast archaeological site known as Las Peñas de los Gitanos, famous for its prehistoric tombs and remains of Roman and Visgothic settlements.
Montefrío's main road has many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It leads on to Plaza Virgen de Los Remedios which then leads on to Plaza de España. Montefrio's primary church is the only round church in the whole of Spain since its recapture from Arabian control.
Montefrío is in the northwest of the province of Granada, situated in the region of Loja. The township occupies about 254 km2 and has a density of 25.37 inhabitants / km ². Montefrio is limited on the north with the municipalities of Priego de Córdoba and Almedinilla (Córdoba) and Alcalá la Real (Jaén); the southeast with íllora, on the south by Villanueva Mesia and Stump; and on the southwest by Loja and Algarinejo, the latter belonging to the province of Granada.
The municipality counts with the annexed of Lojilla . This small village is located about 7 km from the village. The only access is to Lojilla is by the road between Montefrío and Alcalá la Real, from the junction at “La venta del conejo”. From the A92, exit Huétor-Tájar, then up the road connecting the two towns, bordering the creek Milanos, which is the best option. One can also reach Montefrío from neighboring villages and Algarinejo íllora through local roads. The major elevations are the Sierra de Parapanda with 1,604 m at the boundary between Montefrío and íllora, and saw the peak Chanzas Pepper of 1,213 m between Montefrío and Algarinejo.
Montefrio´s economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry. Must emphasize the 16,221 olives of which 15204 belong to dry farming and irrigated rest. Within arable crops we highlight the 471 ha of barley and 12 ha of potato (SIMA 2007).
As for livestock, Montefrío in the eighteenth century became one of the most important pastoral areas of eastern Andalusia (about 50,000 head of cattle). Currently these figures are substantially lower, highlighting the pigs won, goat and sheep. It is this primary sector that derives little existing industry. A cooperative dairy related products, the cheese is famous throughout Spain; several mills, two of which incorporated cooperatives; companies engaged in the development of products derived from the olive; and a high-quality meat products. Finally, we mention the tourist sector. Montefrío has one of the richest historical and cultural heritage of the province, however the impact of tourism in the city is minimal.
( Montefrio - Spain ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Montefrio . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Montefrio - Spain

Antequera Castillo Andalucia Costa del Sol
Impressions of Antequera Castillo Andalucia Costa del Sol
Antequera is a medium sized stylish town about 38 miles inland from the coast at Málaga. It lies at the crossroads of major highways and train links between Granada -Málaga - Seville - Cordoba and Huelva. It is also on the main AVE high speed train link from Málaga to Madrid (Takes just 2 hours).
Antequera has a long history - its prehistoric burial sites or 'Dolmens' testify to that. The three major influences in the region -- Roman, Islamic and Spanish have left scattered remains that dot the town in a rich tapestry of architectural
gems.
Antequera's has many beautiful churches, monasteries and historic buildings.
The historic part of town where the original part of Antequera stretches up the hill from the Plaza de San Sebastian to the Castle. Just a short walk and you find yourself in a different world of narrow, whitewashed streets, flower-decked patios and even older churches. Climb up higher and you can see right over the red roofs and bell towers to the rolling Andalucian countryside beyond.
The town and the valley are overlooked by an enormous peak of linestone, 880 metres high, called La Peña de los Enamorados, or The Lovers' Leap.
Being a genuine Spanish town and not a tourist trap, Antequera is wonderful to visit at any time of year. Andalucian charm remains undimmed by coach parties and souvenir shops.
