Church of Our Saviour Tower in Copenhagen
Climbing the external spiral staircase to the top of the tower. I realize that many of my friends don't travel, so I figure this allows them to come along with me. Along with the external spiral, this tower is unique because it doesn't have a stone spiral staircase like most other towers I've climbed. The tower was completed in 1752 and stands 295 feet tall. There are 400 stairs to the top, with the last 150 being outside.

Vor Frelsers Kirke ligger i Sankt Annæ Gade på Christianshavn i Københavns Kommune. Kirken er mest kendt for sit spiralsnoede spir, men den rummer også en imponerende, udskåret orgelfacade fra 1698 og Nicodemus Tessins mesterstykke af en altertavle. Kirken ligger med sin symmetriakse orienteret fra sydvest – tårnet – mod nordøst – alteret – men for nemheds skyld benævnes denne akse som vest-øst i denne artikel. Tårnindgangen kaldes derfor vestportalen, selvom det ikke stemmer helt med kompasset.

Church of Our Lady (Vor Frue Kirke) - Copenhagen, Denmark
The Church of Our Lady is the cathedral of Copenhagen.
The present day version of the church was designed by the architect Christian Frederik Hansen (1756–1845) in the neoclassical style and was completed in 1829.
The interior is decorated with the twelve apostles (one in front of each of the piers of the central nave), the Risen Christ displaying the wounds in his body (in a niche above the altar) and in front of the altar the baptismal fount in the form of an angel holding a large scallop shell, all in Italian carrara marble. All of these sculptures were completed in Rome by the famous Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
