Suzdal,Russia Tour of the Golden Ring Folk Music
I had just finished a tour of Moscow. Following that I set out on my tour of the Golden Ring of Russia with my tourists from 2012, the Lowery family.
We visited this marvelous museum that they had seen two years before. I wondered, frankly, why they would want to return. On first inspection it seemed like a nice museum but not much more.
Then we met them.
I discovered why this was worthy of a return visit. The talent of the gentleman on the instrument and the sweet voice of the lady took me by surprise. I could have listened for hours.
I love going to St. Petersburg and this time I was to tour the new Faberge Museum but I really regretted leaving Suzdal.
I could spend a week there.

Feel the bells of Moscow's Christthe Savior Cathedral
This is the tallest christian orthodox temple. Built in honor of those fallen in the Napoleonic invasion, was demolished by the Bolsheviks to build the Palace of Soviets. The Second World War killed the project, but years later the world's largest public swimming pool was erected instead. After the fall of the Soviet Union, an amazing replica gave back to Moscow the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

Archive of Orthodox Church leaders meeting before schism
(16 Oct 2018) The Russian Orthodox Church decided Monday to sever ties with the leader of the worldwide Orthodox community after his decision to grant Ukrainian clerics independence from the Moscow Patriarchate.
Metropolitan Hilarion said the Russian church's Holy Synod resolved to ''break the Eucharistic communion with the Istanbul-based Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
Under the leadership of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, the patriarchate last week removed its condemnation of leaders of schismatic Orthodox churches in Ukraine.
The decision marked a step toward establishing an ecclesiastically independent - or autocephalous - church in Ukraine.
The Orthodox Church in Ukraine has been under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church since the late 1600s.
Calls for the Ukrainian church's independence have increased since Moscow's 2014 annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and its support of separatist rebels fighting in eastern Ukraine.
