Places to see in ( Annecy - France ) Church of St Francis

Under the French Revolution , the church is transformed into a factory. She was worshiped in 1923 and restored in 2003
Set on high ground, overlooking lake Annecy, it was a lovely place to spend some peaceful time. Surrounded by lovely flower beds and the town war memorial, the church of Church of St Francis and the whole town had a wonderful loved and cared for feel to them.
This lovely Franciscan church in the heart of Annecy has a refreshing lack of grandeur and splendour. Instead it offers a glorious history of devotion to God in a truly meaningful and spiritually uplifting manner. Come here and be still.

Places to see in ( Annecy - France ) The Chateau de Montrottier
Places to see in ( Annecy - France ) The Chateau de Montrottier
The castle of Montrottier is a former stronghold of the xiii th century, rebuilt several times and restored in the xix th century, which stands on the town of Lovagny in the department of Haute-Savoie region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes , in a dozen kilometers west of Annecy, near the Gorges du Fier .
As historical monuments ; the donjon, the main building of the Knights and the tower of the Nun are the subject of a classification by decree of the1 st September 1919 ; the grounds surrounding the castle are classified by order of the January 5 , 1935 ; the farm and the buildings composing the castle except the classified parts are the subject of a partial inscription by decree of the November 3 , 1987.
The castle of Montrottier is located in the French department of Haute-Savoie in the municipality of Lovagny , in the Savoyard foreland . It stands 1 kilometer southeast of the village on a hill of 445 meters above sea level that dominates the whole country. From the walkway , the view embraces the hilly countryside and extends beyond the mountains overlooking Lake Annecy to Mont Blanc. Raised on a rocky peak, encircled by the old bed of the Fier ; La Grande-Fosse, he watched the passage of the river Le Fier on the road connecting Chambery to Geneva .
The Montrottier Castle is in the form of a pentagonal enclosure built in xiii th century, the shape of the terrain, protected to the north by the Fier gorges around a dungeon isolated cylindrical in a courtyard, square tower , the Tower of the Sisters, houses large and small and a building for the body of the guards. This ensemble is a fine example of medieval Savoyard architecture; the house and tower dating from the xv th century and réemploient elements of xiii th and xiv th centuries.
It is to Pierre de Menthon that we owe the construction of the Logis des Chevaliers, the Logis des Comtes, and the cylindrical dungeon surmounted by machicolation . The latter is built after 1425, blocking rolled pebbles, bricks and gravel, and its apparatus consists of tufa rubble. At a height of 35.6 meters , it has a thick wall of more than 3 meters at its base which is built in large apparatus and talute in the shape of a truncated cone. With five floors, it is accessible by a wooden footbridge from the first floor of the Logis des Comtes located 4 meters above the ground. A staircase of 87 stepsleads to its summit, from where one has a remarkable view. As for the machicolation, which composes the coronation, they rest on a row of triple crows and the three merlons which dominate the road to the south-east are pierced by circular guns.

Introduction To The Devout Life, Saint Francis De Sales, Full Catholic Audiobook
During his lifetime, St. Francis de Sales gave spiritual direction to many individuals. Introduction to the Devout Life is a compilation of letters and notes used in the spiritual direction of his cousin, Madame Marie de Charmoisy, the wife of an ambassador of the Duke of Savoy. The correspondence began when Madame de Charmoisy, in Annecy, confided to Francis her desire for piety amidst the struggles and distractions associated with life at court. When Madame de Charmoisy returned to Paris, she showed the letters to her confessor, Jesuit Father Jean Fourier, who encouraged De Sales to publish them. It was first published in January 1609.
While the letters are addressed to “Philothea” (Lover of God), they include the substance of correspondence with others as well as Marie de Charmoisy. De Sales explained: “I address my words to Philothea, since I wish to direct what was first written to one person alone to the general benefit of many souls; …”
Unlike many other writings in this category, it is distinguished by addressing itself to all Christians in any state of life, rather than to just those who have been called to a religious vocation. St. Charles Borromeo had a great influence on Francis de Sales because of his pastoral approach to bringing devotion to the Christian in the world.
De Sales said, “My purpose is to instruct those who live in town, within families, or at court, and are obliged to live an ordinary life as to outward appearances.” “It is an error, or rather a heresy, to wish to banish the devout life from the regiment of soldiers, the mechanic’s shop, the court of princes, or the home of married people. … Wherever we may be, we can and should aspire to the perfect life.”
Francis de Sales, CO OM OFM Cap. (French: François de Sales; 21 August 1567 – 28 December 1622) was a Bishop of Geneva and is honored as a saint in the Catholic Church. He became noted for his deep faith and his gentle approach to the religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation. He is known also for his writings on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation, particularly the Introduction to the Devout Life and the Treatise on the Love of God.
Union With GOD From The Teachings Of Saint Francis De Sales
Francis de Sales CO OM OFM Cap. (French: François de Sales; Italian: Francesco di Sales; 21 August 1567 – 28 December 1622) was a Bishop of Geneva and is honored as a saint in the Catholic Church. He became noted for his deep faith and his gentle approach to the religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation. He is known also for his writings on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation, particularly the Introduction to the Devout Life and the Treatise on the Love of God.
St. Francis de Sales has been styled the Gentleman Saint because of his patience and gentleness.[7] Despite the resistance of the populace of Lyon to moving his remains from that city, Sales was buried on 24 January 1623 in the church of the Monastery of the Visitation in Annecy, which he had founded with Chantal, who was also buried there. Their remains were venerated there until the French Revolution.[15] Many miracles have been reported at his shrine.
De Sales' heart was kept in Lyon, in response to the popular demand of the citizens of the city to retain his remains. During the French Revolution, however, it was saved from the revolutionaries by being carried by the Visitation nuns from Lyons to Venice.[1]
Francis de Sales was beatified in 1661 by Pope Alexander VII, who then canonized him four years later. He was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1877.[2]
The Roman Catholic Church celebrates St. Francis de Sales' feast on 24 January, the day of his burial in Annecy in 1624.[16] From the year 1666, when his feast day was inserted into the General Roman Calendar, until its 1969 revision, he was celebrated on 29 January, a date still observed by some Traditionalist Catholics.
