March of the Life-Guards Pavlovsky Regiment
Pages of His Imperial Majesty Corps was a prestigious military educational institution of the Russian Empire. The institution was founded in the reign of Empress Elizabeth II...
At the very beginning of his reign, Alexander I conceived the task of reforming the Corps des Pages to transform it into an elite educational institution, giving its pupils a first-class military education worthy of the court and (in the future) guards service.
The pupils of the corps of pages during the training period were considered to be numbered among the Imperial court and carried the responsibilities of guard duty. Those Pages who had distinguished themselves in academics, behaviour and education, as well as being fluent in foreign languages had the honour of serving as Chamber-pages to the Emperor and Empress ....
Originally housed in the palace of Admiral Bruce, in 1810 the Corps moved to the former palace of Count M. I. Vorontsov.
In 1763 the Count had been forced to cede his debts to the Russian treasury including the palace....Upon accession to the throne of Paul I, the palace was transferred to the Order of Malta in the late 1790s, and the Chapter of Russian Orders was placed here. In 1798 - 1800, the architect J. Quarenghi built the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist in the palace , and the Maltese Chapel was attached to the main building on the part of the garden....
The Institution was abolished in 1918 the First Petrograd Infantry School of the Red Army Command Staff was established in the palace ...From 1955 until the present, the Suvorov Military School is located here. In 2002 the Museum of the History of Cadet Corps of Russia was opened in the Maltese Chapel.
2001 Kursk, Pushkin & the Korennaya Icon
I don't understand why no one has made a movie about the Korennaya icon- the Root icon. Some day I would like to return to Kursk to see the wonderful people we met there.

Korennaya,Svoboda, Kursk Oblast
This ancient Holy Spring was started when a hunter in 1295 from the Rylsk area found the icon laying face down and as he lifted the icon up the spring water came flowing from the roots of the tree. That is how the Kursk Root Icon and the Monastery received their name. They both also called Korennaya (Koren' means Root in Russian). The Kursk Root Icon History is very long and having many miracles of helping people with illnesses even to the present day. Many people visit the monastery every day just to receive some of the Holy Kursk Root Water and bring it home for use on another day.

Troparion to the re. Seraphim of Sarov
On July 19 (August 1, according to the new art.) 1903, official church glorification took place in the face of saints and the acquisition of honest relics of Father Seraphim of Sarov , beloved and long respected by the people. The celebrations held in Sarov and Diveevo became a special landmark in the spiritual history of the country, as Sarov and Diveevo have always been and remain a special place of spiritual geography of Russia .
The celebrations were attended by the Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna and members of the Imperial family. Together with pilgrims from across Russia, local dignitaries and members of the nobility.
Following the Bolshevik Revolution, Soviet authorities severely persecuted religious groups. As part of their persecution of Christians, they confiscated many relics of saints, including St. Seraphim. Furthermore, his biographer Seraphim Chichagov, who came to become a Metropolitan, was arrested, sentenced to death and executed by firing squad in 1937 (and is also celebrated as a Russian Orthodox saint).
In 1991, St. Seraphim's relics were rediscovered after being hidden in a Soviet anti-religious museum for seventy years. This caused a sensation in post-Soviet Russia and throughout the Orthodox world. A crucession (religious procession) escorted the relics, on foot, all the way from Moscow to Diveyevo Convent, where they remain to this day.
