St Mary De Castro Leicester
The spire on the St Mary De Castro church in Leicester has been pointing toward the sky for over 900 years. It was rebuilt about 240 years ago but has been removed, over the last 2 months, due to it being unsafe. I suppose the question now is will it be rebuilt?

St Mary's Church, Elmesthorpe, Leicestershire
Video of St Mary's Church, Elmesthorpe, Leicestershire. Wiki says
The parish of Elmesthorpe has strong connections with King Richard III and the Battle of Bosworth. It is said that the now partially ruined 13th century church provided shelter for the officers of Richard's army on their march from Leicester to the Battle.[2]
The village became almost deserted from 1300--1850. However, a government initiative paid locals from Durham to relocate to Elmesthorpe.
The forgotten graves of St Mary de Castro Church
A site survey. St Mary de Castro church is located in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. The name translates as St Mary of the Castle Church - due to its position next to the ruins of Leicester Castle. Founded in 1107 AD by Robert de Beaumont, it is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is also the site where the infant King Henry VI was knighted in 1426 AD.
The Graveyard of St Mary holds many fine examples of Georgian and Victorian Gravestones - many of which are in a sad state of decay, being the victim of time, the elements and vandalism. This upload is to record the fast vanishing legacy of English Graveyards, for within another generation, most of those beautiful old Gravestones will have been removed. And once gone they are gone forever.
Most of these Gravestones have not been mourned or tended by surviving descendants in centuries.
