TRAVEL VLOG || Day trip to Dolores Hidalgo, La Cuna de La Independencia
Welcome back! Dolores Hidalgo is just a 30-40 min ride outside of San Miguel de Allende which is where the beginning of the Mexican Revolution took place, so to be at the footsteps where it all began was just a moment for me to sink it all in! I tagged along with my friend India and her husband Nick! (Be sure to follow India's youtube channel! link below!)The city was a small town known simply as Dolores when Father Miguel Hidalgo uttered his famous cry for independence or El Grito as we like to call it, in the early hours of September 17, 1810. Shortly after Mexico winning its independence, the town was renamed Dolores Hidalgo in his honor. Today Dolores Hidalgo is known for its ceramics industry, which provide income to well over half the city's population. A place of pilgrimage in Dolores Hidalgo for many fans of ranchera music is the tomb of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Mexico's most beloved singer/songwriter. Dolores Hidalgo is also famous for its eclectic flavors of ice cream, offering any flavor from shrimp flavored, cheese flavored, even tequila flavored! Hope you guys enjoy & please be sure to visit this Pueblo Magico!

Thanks For Watching
Today is Mexican Independence Day (September 16). Also known as El Grito, it is an annual celebration to remember and honor the start of Mexico's War for Independence against the Spanish.
September 16 acts as the day to celebrate because of the Grito de Dolores. A catholic priest called Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla (Hidalgo) was one of the supporters for independence in San Miguel (now San Miguel de Allende), near Dolores. On this day in 1810, he rang the church bell in Dolores to call his parishioners to revolt against the Spanish and for racial equality and redistribution of the land. Unfortunately, the priest was arrested, exiled and then executed for being a rebel. But today, because of his call to revolt, he is celebrated as a martyr to the cause of Mexico's independence from Spain and the Grito de Dolores is celebrated as Mexico's Independence Day.

La Que Se Fue
A classic song by José Alfredo Jiménez, recorded in the folk country style by M. Luketan. Video footage is from a sunday wedding at the church on the square, downtown Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Words (letras):
Tengo dinero en el mundo
Dinero maldito, que nada vale
Aunque me miren sonriendo
Puedo comprar mil mujeres
Y darme una vida de gran placer
Pero el cariño comprado
Ni sabes querernos ni puede ser fiel
Yo lo que quiero es que vuelva
que vuelva conmigo
La que se fue
Yo lo que quiero es que vuelva
Que vuelva conmigo
La que se fue
