The Community of Jesus - Sanctuary Floor Mosaic, The Church of the Transfiguration
An overview of the process of creating the Sanctuary floor mosaic at the Church of the Transfiguration — from painted drawing to Ravenna Italy and installation on Cape Cod.These mosaics are created in the ancient tradition of Byzantine-style mosaics. Each full-scale drawing that was first painted on cardboard was cut into pieces and sent to the studio of Alessandra Caprara in Ravenna, Italy. There she overlaid the painting with paper and outlined every color of natural stone or glass to be used. Each piece was hand-cut and placed in a binding material and shipped to Cape Cod, where it was laid out like a jigsaw puzzle and installed with seams and gaps filled in on location. Members of the Community who trained with Alessandra, traveled to the studio in Ravenna, assisting with cutting and placement of the tesserae under her direction. The floor mosaic took five years to complete, and the apse mosaic took three years to complete

Garrett Memorial Chapel
The Garrett Chapel, also known as the “Little Chapel on the Mount” was built by Evelyn and Paul Garrett, who founded and ran Garrett and Company from 1902 until 1940. Garrett and Company was once among the largest wine producers in the world, with peak output exceeding 10 million gallons per year. Much of the grapes were grown on this very spot, on approximately 4000 acres of land in the Finger Lakes.
Today, the Garrett Chapel stands as the last significant remnant of this once great organization. The chapel was erected in memory of Evelyn and Paul's son Charles, who died of tuberculosis in 1929. Many of the Garrett children died young, and Charles was the only son to survive to adulthood. With him died the family name and the heir apparent of Garrett and Company. Survived by his parents and three sisters, the family sought to commemorate his life and the principles to which they subscribed by building this chapel on the place he loved most – Bluff Point.
Community or Cult? [part 2-1]
Chronicle, a news magazine (WCVB-TV, Channel 5 Boston), broadcast this show on July 22, 1993 (the second of two parts). It is a report on the Community of Jesus, Inc. of Orleans, Massachusetts, USA. Their respective web sites are:
The report was done with standard journalistic technique, showing both sides of the issue: is the Community a cult? Some neutral experts were interviewed. Former members were interviewed. Current members of the Community (at the time) were interviewed. Interestingly, many current members that are shown in the taping have since left.
The Community of Jesus was founded by two lay women, Cay Anderson & Judy Sorensen. Cay Anderson died in 1988. The leader of the Community at the time of the taping, Betty Pugsley (who goes by Elizabeth Patterson when she conducts the choir outside the Community), is still in charge as of the date of this posting. Over the years, the Community has been the subject of the print media, including the Cape Cod Times (the local newspaper), the Cape Cod Voice (a local magazine), Boston Magazine (a regional magazine), and the Globe and Mail (the national newspaper of Canada).
The observations, declarations, and accusations of former members are trivialized and dismissed by the Community to this day.
FACTnet, a web site about cults and other high-control environments, includes a topic on the Community in their forums:
Look under Religions, Religious Sub Sects and Religious or Spiritual Cults,
then under Christian Centered Groups,
then scroll down to Community of Jesus Grenville Christian College
Grenville Christian College (GCC) became affiliated with the Community in 1973 when its leadership sought the help of Cay & Judy. Its leadership and staff members became non-resident members (and some eventually became resident members at the Community in Orleans). GCC ran a private Christian boarding school using the same principles and techniques as the Community. Its staff, being non-resident members, followed the teachings of Cay and Judy and applied it to staff members, staff children, children from the Community who attended GCC, and students not affiliated with either GCC or the Community.
GCC closed its doors at the end of the summer of 2007. Shortly thereafter, it was named as a defendant in a class action lawsuit in Canada, along with the Anglican Church of Canada and the Community of Jesus. At the date of this posting, the legal teams are preparing, filing, etc. and an actual trial has not yet begun. Not surprisingly, the Community has distanced itself from GCC.

St. Mary's Cathedral GargoyleCam tour
Before it became an Episcopal cathedral, St. Marys was a mission church, organized in 1857 by members of Calvary Episcopal Church on the semi-rural, eastern fringe of Memphis, Tennessee, on a spot now considered to be part of Downtown. It became the cathedral church of the old statewide Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee in 1871 and later the cathedral of the Diocese of West Tennessee with the creation of the three dioceses within Tennessee in 1983.
A small wooden Gothic structure was built on a lot located at the eastern edge of the city at Poplar and Orleans, given by Robert C. Brinkley and his wife Anne Overton Brinkley. On Thanksgiving Day, 1857, the first wardens and vestry were elected and the first rector, Richard Hines, was called. It was the desire of James Otey, the First Bishop of Tennessee, that free seats and openness to all would be the policy of this church, built as a house of prayer for all people. St. Mary's Church was officially dedicated on the following Ascension Day (May 13, 1858).
In 1871, members of St. Marys presented the churchs keys to Charles Quintard, Second Bishop of Tennessee, to use as his seat or cathedral.
While the Episcopal Church in the United States was once a part of the Church of England, the American dioceses were slow to designate official cathedrals in keeping with the Protestant or Reformed character of its members. As the Oxford Movements high church or Roman Catholic-style liturgy and beliefs finally began to take root in the U.S., Episcopal cathedrals began to appear. With a devoted high churchman as its bishop, the Diocese of Tennessee was among the earliest in America (possibly the first in the South) to designate one of its parishes as a cathedral.
Construction of its present English Gothic Revival structure began in 1898 and was completed in 1926.
Martyrs and the Cathedral
St. Mary's is closely associated with two episodes of martyrdom known throughout the world. Both episodes dramatically reduced the size of St. Mary's congregation, either through death or controversy.
Constance and Her Companions:
Memphis suffered periodic epidemics of yellow fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, throughout the 19th century. The worst of the epidemics occurred in the summer of 1878, when 5,150 Memphians died. Five years earlier, a group of Episcopal nuns from the recently formed Sisterhood of St. Mary arrived in Memphis to operate the St. Mary's School for Girls, which was relocated to the cathedral site. When the 1878 epidemic struck, a number of priests and nuns (both Protestant and Catholic), doctors, and even the proprietress of a bordello stayed behind to tend to the sick and dying. The Episcopal nuns' superior, Sister Constance, three other Episcopal nuns, and two Episcopal priests are known throughout the Anglican Communion as Constance and Her Companions or the Martyrs of Memphis. Added to the Episcopal Church's Lesser Feasts and Fasts in 1981, their feast day (September 9) commemorates their sacrifices.
Martin Luther King, Jr.:
The second historic/tragic event that St. Mary's Cathedral attempted to mitigate was the 1968 assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The day after King's death, Memphis clergy from many churches and synagogues met at the cathedral. In an impromptu move, Dean William Dimmick (later Bishop of Northern Michigan) took up the Cathedral's processional cross and led many of the assembled ministers down Poplar Avenue to City Hall to petition Mayor Henry C. Loeb to end the labor standoff that King was in town to help negotiate. Nearly half of the Cathedral's membership eventually left in protest of Dimmick's gesture of racial unity.

Security guard held after nun, parishioner shot dead at cathedral
A man opened fire in a cathedral on Russia's Sakhalin Island in the Pacific on Sunday, killing a nun and a parishioner and wounding six others, investigators said.
Law enforcement officers detained the 24-year-old at the scene and were trying to determine why he attacked the Russian Orthodox cathedral in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Bishop Tikhon of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands said the community was praying for the nun, called Lyudmila, the parishioner and the wounded.
The six parishioners who were wounded were hit in the legs and their lives were not in danger, state news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the regional archbishop.
The gunman worked for a private security firm in the city and was armed with a rifle.
His name was not released.
The gunman entered the cathedral shortly after a service had ended and began shooting at parishioners and religious icons on the wall, a priest told the LifeNews cable television channel via telephone.
He said not too many people were left in the cathedral and some managed to flee, but that the nun and a male parishioner tried to stop the attacker and were killed.
The priest claimed that the man, who also destroyed a cross, expressed his hatred of the church.
The Russian Orthodox Church has been criticised by those who oppose its resurgence and symbiosis with the Kremlin under President Vladimir Putin.

Lady Gaga Mass - Communion - Telephone Tune
Gaga Mass, arranged by Pastor Megan Rohrer for the Community of Travelers at St. Aidan's Episcopal 3/11/2011.
Raise your hearts and minds to God who's above all
with the saints, and prophets have followed the call
Holy, holy, holy, we lift our voice to you
Blessed be your name, keep us forever true
On the night he was betrayed, Christ took the bread
Broke it, gave thanks, and give it for all to eat
Then after supper, he took the cup and gave thanks
Gave it for all to drink, said this is my blood, eh
The cup of the new covenant, I've shed for all of you
Each time you eat or drink this meal, think of me too
Chorus:
Our God in heaven, hallow'd be your name
Your kingdom come, will be done, on earth as in heaven
Save me from temptation and keep me from all sin
all power and glory is yours again and again
Bridge:
A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, men
(Christ Body!) A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, men
(And Blood!) A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, men
(Now were one body!) A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, men
Come now Holy Spirit and put your blessings here
Gather us into one and take away our fear
[the bread is broken]
[chanted]
Sin all you want, but believe even more, love your neighbor and help the poor
Out in the streets, or in the store, God loves you forever more
Sin all you want, but believe even more, love your neighbor and help the poor
Out in the streets, or in the store, God loves you forever more

(SMHP Testimonial & why I posted this video.)
I was imprisoned by heavy drug and alcohol addiction for 30 years and had many encounters with demonic spirits. I hung around people in dark places. This stuff is no joke. It gets darker and darker. Please wake up people. The demonic entities just want to use you as host bodies and take your souls.
I went to drug rehab when I was 15 for 45 days but started using again within a week of leaving. I was diagnosed with manic bipolar in my twenties and went on and off of antidepressants. No man could give me a solution to my problems. Life kept getting darker and the demonic attacks more frequent. Satan told me I was no good and that Lord God did not love me.
Near the end, I knew I would die high as I could not go without using all day. I prayed out to Abba Father. Please Lord save me from these evil addictions. I would blackout every time I used and didn't know if I would end up at the bottom of a pool or run over by a car. Jesus reached down and pulled me from this hell. He is my everything!
You can break free from these addictions. Jesus is the chain breaker. It wasn't man that took away my chains but Jesus Christ. He supernaturally shook me to my core over a period of several weeks and my addictions were gone for good.
I had a dream that I died and went before Lord God and could not speak to him because I was high on drugs. No one should have to think about this. This is a stronghold over you and people who love you. - SMHP
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and yet he would break his bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert. Luke 8:29
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And broke their chains in pieces. Psalm 107:13-14
This applies to all addictions, not just drugs and alcohol.
