Cibola National Wildlife Refuge
This was taken just before sunrise on January 29, 2010 when the birds start taking off from the pond to fly to the fields for feeding. The pond can be reached from the Cornfield Nature Trail and a deck is provided for observation and photography. There is a 3-mile car loop where the birds can be observed but visitors are requested not to get out of their vehicles. It is advisable to go to the Visitors' Center first to obtain useful publications and get information from the very helpful and informative personnel.
Arizona Desert Boondocking: Cibola, Yuma & Ajo - (Video Travelogue: Feb 2015)
Chris & Cherie of Technomadia.com share about their February 2015 travel adventures exploring and boondocking around the desert southwest.
We spent a delightful couples weeks on BLM land surrounding Cibola Wildlife Refuge, then boondocked a week off Ogilby Rd near Yuma,AZ and then joined up with friends off Darby Well Rd just south of Ajo and ended the month 'mooch docking' near Arizona City with friends.
What a fun winter, and we loved being off grid!
We've been on the road full time since 2006, working remotely the entire time - we love this lifestyle, and enjoy sharing about all aspects of it. We generally host and post a live video topic monthly (we pick a topic and host a Q&A session - technomadia.com/video for more info). We also post interviews with our nomadic friends every 4-6 weeks in our Ramblings series, and share a monthly travelogue from our own nomadic travels like this one. Thanks for joining us!

Free Camping at Ogilby Road BLM near Yuma
*Update* New BLM Rules at Ogilby -
See the blog post for more details and photos -
In this video, I give you a look at our latest free dry camping spot located off Ogilby Road between Yuma, AZ and the Imperial Sand Dunes in California.
Also, in the video is footage of the drive in and a few close by spots to pick up supplies like water, fuel, propane and where to dump your waste tanks.
This is a great place to meet up with friends as the access is easy and the ground can support any type of rig even big Class A.
It's close to the little Mexican town of Los Algodones which serves snowbirds looking for dental work, eyeglasses, pharmaceuticals, souvenirs, booze, food etc. I love the shrimp tacos over there.
But if looking for a little bit of isolation the area is big enough to find a spot away from the crowd.
Signs posted say 14 days camping permitted.

Camping in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge Arizona
See full blog post -
In this video, I give you look at our campsites in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. (Kofa NWR). We camped off Palm Canyon Road and visited in late January of 2016 and enjoyed it very much.
If you're into photography, hiking, and scenic views this place is a recommended spot for you.
Campsites are very primitive with no services but accessible to larger RVs. Access was on a graded flat gravel two lane road. I found the further in the better the views and the thicker the surrounding cactus became.

Arizona, USA-Wild West Desert Tour
Arizona has vast living desert with its own fauna and flora. The Native Americans found a thorny succulent plant that was rich in vitamin C but was full of sharp steel pin like thorns. How do you get the juice rich in vitamin C? The natives used a simple trick. Just burn the thorns and cut the plant for the juice. So, they never suffered from Scurvy, the vitamin deficiency disease that bleeds. There are other medicinal plants in the desert.

Ehrenberg AZ to Buckeye Hills Recreation Area- April 2017
Leaving the Ehrenberg AZ area on the Colorado River. 2.5 months boondocking, so time to hit the road and find some new areas. Was hoping to find a spot at Buckeye Ponds, but that area was closed down due to too much garbage and abuse. Headed 10 miles south of Buckeye to the Buckeye Hills Recreation area. Free camping on State Park land.
