Cijin District (Chinese: 旗津區; Hanyu Pinyin: Qíjīn Qū; Tongyong Pinyin: Cíjin Cyu; Wade–Giles: Ch'i2-chin1 Ch'ü1; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Kî-tin-khu) is a district of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, covering Cijin Island. It is the second smallest district in Kaohsiung City after Yancheng District.

Cijin/Qijin Island 旗津島 is a small island right beside Kaohsiung City 高雄 with many beautiful scenic areas and an awesome food street! It is accessible by taking the ferry at Gushan Ferry Pier of Kaohsiung. This was taken on February 2016.

To get to Cijin Island, you’ll need to take the Kaohsiung MRT to Sizihwan Station. From there, it’s about a 5-10 minute walk to Gushan Terminal where you can take a quick ferry to Cijin Island. A ferry ticket will cost you NTD 25 each way. You can pay for this using an easy card if you have one.

風箏衝浪旗津 Kitesurfing Cijin island (Kaohsiung/Taiwan) [Gopro]
Cijin island is a district of Kaohsiung city (Taiwan) and it is accessed from the mainland by ferry (pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes) at the north tip, or by car through the Cross Harbor Tunnel at the south tip. Kitesurfing is possible at the beach located in front of the Cijin Shell Museum, few kilometers South of the ferry terminal. The best wind conditions are South-Southeast, during summer. Large breaking waves and strong riptides make the waters dangerous at times. Caution is advised.
