Rodeos, cowboys and the arts and skills of the old west are an intrinsic part of Oklahoma. From traditional family rodeos, barrel racing and bucking machines, it’s life in the saddle. Cattle roundups for branding and vaccination bring families and friends together at the River Basin Ranch in Nowata. The world’s largest stocker and feeder cattle market at Stockyards City handles the flow of cattle from a dozen states. In Oklahoma City the National Memorial & Museum is a tribute to the victims, survivors and rescue workers of the bombing at the Arthur P. Murrow Federal Building. With the resurgence of the American Buffalo, there’s a new market for the limited, high quality and exotic buffalo hair products many are produced at American Buffalo Products. Chile rellenos are the game for local company Matador Processing where each chile is stuffed by hand! Former cowboy and military vet turned junk art sculptor, Jim Powers uses scrap metal to create his art – everything from dinosaurs, camels and flowers to rockets and abstract sculptures. Curiosity, fear and fun are what most people feel at the Apache Rattlesnake Festival where snake handlers walk inside the snake pit with hundreds of “live rattlers, discussing everything from snake biology to safety. In the field, visitor’s can even hunt for snakes. Oklahoma’s favorite son, Will Rogers, was a hero to many. His unique blend of common sense, humor and criticism is proudly on display at the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore. At the Will Rogers Wild West Arts Club Expo - 4 days of demonstrations, contests and competitions include trick roping, knife throwing, gun spinning, quick-draw shooting, whip cracking, trick riding and trick shooting.

Law enforcement video and audio obtained by the McAlester News-Capital detail the trooper-involved fatal shooting of Mark Anson Schoggins.
Pittsburg County District Judge Mike Hogan on Wednesday granted a motion to dismiss a motion to quash law enforcement video of the July 17 high-speed pursuit that ended with OHP troopers fatally shooting the 35-year-old from McAlester.
The McAlester News-Capital previously obtained Oklahoma Highway Patrol videos that show the suspect clocked at speeds exceeding 100 mph in wrong-way traffic in the middle of town. The driver rammed law enforcement vehicles in multiple attempts to flee.
District 18 District Attorney Chuck Sullivan had filed a motion to quash open records requests for the videos, which was granted by Hogan. Sullivan determined on Sept. 26 after a nearly three-month investigation that the shooting was justified.
After reviewing all the investigative reports, witness interviews and reviewing all available video regarding the incident, I have determined that no criminal charges against the OHP Troopers are necessary or proper, Sullivan said in the motion to dismiss. Mark Schoggins had more than 10 opportunities to prevent this tragedy from occurring and refused every time; each time he did so, he put the officers and public at risk.
Schoggins was accused of stealing two bottles of vodka from a local liquor store before he was initially stopped by a McAlester police officer and then fled.
Police pursued Schoggins south of McAlester on U.S. Highway 69 before OHP took the lead as the chase returned toward McAlester. The pursuit ended at South Third Street and South Avenue in McAlester, with OHP troopers fatally shooting Schoggins.
Sullivan said after Schoggins struck troopers in their vehicles with his large SUV, he attempted to run over Trooper Garet Gray and struck Gray's body before Gray and Trooper James McKee opened fire on Schoggins.
It is my conclusion that this was an appropriate use of lethal force and no charges should be filed, — which Sullivan said was in response to a suspect's assault and battery with a deadly weapon, his vehicle.
Two other videos from Trooper Bradley Wilson, who was struck by “shrapnel” during the incident and from Trooper Keith Robertson, were also released.

Oklahoma 2012 political candidates speaking forum held in Calvin Oklahoma
At the Calvin Senior Citizens Center there was a meet the candidates forum. All candidates running for political office in Oklahoma were invited. This video clip is the introduction of the event prior to the candidates speaking. An estimated 100 people were in attendance. It appeared to be standing room only.
After I signed in as guest, Joyce Sells the coordinator of this meet the candidates forum welcomed the guest and introduced the Master of ceremonies - Robert (I did not get his last name). Robert announced the rules regarding the political candidates time limit to speak (4 minutes). He also announced that prior to the candidates time to speak there would be a pie auction, which was a benefit for the Calvin Senior Center.
This political speaking event that was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 started at about 7:40pm was located at Calvin Senior Citizen Center (Calvin Nutrition Center) in Calvin, Oklahoma.
