Rome to Sicily by train
The Trenitalia service from Rome to Sicily is unusual in that the carriages travel on the ferry across the Strait of Messina. This short video shows the train maneuvering on and off the ferry.

Volcano Train Ride // Vlog
During our time in Catania, Sicily, we decided to take the Circumetnea train ride. This is a ride on a track that goes most of the way around the tallest active volcano in Europe; Mt. Etna. Since we were visiting in the end of January, the mountain was covered in snow, so we didn't want to risk taking an excursion up if they were even available. This was a great, relaxing and affordable way to experience the views around the volcano.

WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?
My channel is a place for adventurers to come together, inspire each other and to share my adventures with those that I love. My partner, Scott, and I made the biggest decision of our lives in 2016. We decided to leave everything behind, rid ourselves of our belongings and take on a travel lifestyle. We have bought one way tickets and have opened our hearts and minds to what this journey has to offer. Please enjoy and share with anyone who you think will be interested. Sending love to all of you on whatever journey life has brought you. It’s time to COME TO LIFE.

ETNA 2016 - from plain ''Circumetnea '' train and from Etna's craters
Sicily - may of 2015 Mount Etna (3329 mt) , seen from the plain, from the train Circumetnea - going around the volcano
(110 km in ab. 4 hours with 8 stops ), from hight of 30 mt (Catania - Borgo) to max.840 mt (Randazzo) with the end station - Riposto.
I make the stop at Randazzo city ( it may be more) to visite the city built of lava
.
The other day it was the trip by bus AST from Catania (8:15) to Refuggio Sapienza (1910 mt) - going back at 16:30.
In the meantime it was the walking to the craters like Silvestro'' (1980 mt) and by cable care to 2520 mt (Montagnola) to step up to the crater ''Capanine''- from 2001 eruption.
There is also possible to go by Jeep bus to the area ''Torre del Filosofo'' (2920 mt ) but it is not aloud to go farther without the guide.
Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity.
Etna's longest eruption began in 1979 and went on for thirteen years; its latest eruption began in March 2007, and is still ongoing.
Since 2000, Etna has had four flank eruptions — in 2001, 2002–2003, 2004–2005, and 2008-2009. Summit eruptions occurred in 2006, 2007–2008, January–April 2012, and again in July–October 2012.
Capo Taormina - Train passing
View from the balcony, train passes, for comparison of sound levels compare with sound of waves before train arrives - almost identical and not especially loud. Had it been, we would be flagging that up, but it was not too serious in our opinion. Also note there are plans to reroute the railway line in forthcoming years through a tunnel proposed to go through the mountain behind the property, so the train line may, in fact, not be there for ever.
Have a look and see anyway...
Trip from Taormina to Giardini Naxos, Sicily
